It's -6 F Out There and I'm Doing What?

Wednesday. My day off, my day to run errands, and under this new schedule, my day to swim. What? Swim in -6 F weather? Fortunately it is an indoor pool, but I know that the water temp in indoor pools is always cold until I get moving so I'm not really looking forward to today's gym excursion, but I am looking forward to the actual activity. I'll survive even though I'll look like an overstuffed sausage in my swim suit. Oh for the days when I looked great in a bikini....

Wednesdays on my new schedule are for swimming laps.

DH went out with friends yesterday afternoon and early evening as he usually does on Tuesdays. Late in his schedule he texted me that a friend's wife's birthday is on Saturday and we scheduled a dinner together with them for the occasion. Apparently she likes a local French restaurant that features an oyster bar. Me? I really don't like oysters. I've had them in New Orleans, and still remember my ex-fiance waking me one Sunday morning with Bloody Mary drinks and oysters on the half-shell many many years ago. Didn't care for oysters then, still don't. But, apparently we'll be going to this French restaurant anyway. It's effin' expensive with a fixed-price variable menu. I'm sure the food will be delicious, but I'm glad DH is picking up the tab for this one.

I well remember the days of talking on a land line, in fact, I may have
owned a dress similar to this. Frightening, isn't it? LOL.

Just had a lovely quick FB Messenger exchange with my friend V in Croatia. I'm so amazed at how easily I can communicate instantly with my friends in all parts of the world and this is one more example. I grew up in the era of fixed land line phones and per-minute long distance fees. To move from that to mobile phones and then to cell phones, from bills exceeding $60 for a hour of talking to a friend in a different state to practically talking with anyone, anywhere for no additional feel to my cellphone bill - well, that's like magic. Yeah! I like that aspect of technology and change.

Miki and her wife Regina went on a cruise in late 2013. This pic
is from that cruise. Regina was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer
last year and it's been a hard war so far, but she won another battle
yesterday.

On a more personal note, my Cousin Miki's wife had surgery for a fairly serious cancer yesterday and it seems that she pulled through it quite well, although it was a very long day for everyone. If anyone has any extra thoughts or prayers hanging around them, I'm sure Regina and Miki wouldn't mind a positive thought or two. They just celebrated their first wedding anniversary late last year so it's been a very difficult year for them. I wish they were closer, but they're on the East Coast of the US and I'm in the Midwest - lots of miles between us.

My water will be quite a bit more benign than this, but
I'll think it's just as cold, initially.

So, I'm getting the pics into this and getting this posted so that I can immerse myself in cold water - LOL. Have a great Wednesday. Off to the gym and I'm buying a washer/dryer today! Whoop!!!!
