Crazy Busy Day

Swimming - days are always wonderful when they start out in the pool. But then my rat race begins.

Shop - I printed out bunches of things last night that the staff will need for today. I have to drop by there before I go to the ...

Clinic - lab tests today - squish and push. Mammogram followed by a bone density test. Hoping they find nothing in the first test and that my osteoperosis hasn't gotten worse in the second. Crossing fingers.

Days like this seem to be elaborate wheels where I
keep running and running, but don't really get anywhere. 

Early lunch - the only chance I'll have to eat until dinner, and I've got an e-coupon for a burger at Perkins. It will make three days in a row that I'm there, but not three days in a row for breakfast - a bit closer to lunch for this one.

Shopping - not as glamorous as it may sound. Shopping today consists of groceries and, since money is a bit tight right now, I'm not deviating from my list. Having had food before I go will be helpful.

Wallpaper - I don't like the latest sample so I'm going to arrange for a different sample. I'm not even sure it is still available, still being made, or even which manufacturer it is, but I want to see it in a larger format.

Repairs - I have two repairs in the works. I have to finish the easier one, but the harder one is scheduled for pick-up next weekend. Both have to get done.

Aearwen - a glimpse of sanity in my life, although I might still be doing repairs when I speak with her late this afternoon.

It's always a joy to speak to Aearwen. We usually talk every week
about amy and every thing. It's totally no-pressure and my
one action of sanity in crazy weeks and busy Wednesdays. Huzzah! 

Laundry - well, that's on-going throughout the day as soon as I get home. The usual house stuff - laundry, making the beds with clean sheets, etc. I'm hoping to find the time to vacuum on Sunday - it's been longer than it should because of our Renaissance schedule, but that's over now and my "life" is once more my own.

Dinner - prepare and throw the chicken into the oven (well, not literally throw, that would be too messy). Thank goodness the chicken almost cooks itself. DH looks forward to his Wednesday chicken all week, so the menu is set without much thought and minimal preparation.

Collapse - it's only fair, right? Criminal Minds on the TV tonight, so that's a winner. Then time to start my merry-go-round once again. Happy Wednesday to all!

Rain - A Photo Blog

After two days of high heat here, we're supposed to be deluged by rain today with continuing rain tomorrow. In honor of the heat breaking, I am pulling a few pics together to celebrate rain (here's hoping the pics might also bring rain for my over-baked California friends).

Even adults can enjoy playing in the rain. 

And a quick note on the wallpaper hunt. I went to the "other" decorating store yesterday and spent an hour going through books of samples with a sales consultant. I found eight styles I liked and brought home small samples of each. They all work pretty well with the drapery and carpet samples and would all work on my walls. I have a favorite, but I told DH to take a look today and see what he thinks. I'm not looking for a commitment, just a direction right now. Let's see if we're on the same page.

Although her hair doesn't look as plastered as I think it
should in this kind of deluge (leading me to think this
shot is photoshopped), there is some serious joy about the
rain in her face that comes through beautifully. 

Without a doubt, it's the rain boots (or Wellies for
my friends across the Pond) that just make
this picture divine. There's some serious enjoyment
in this young girl's whole aspect as she strides out
to explore her wet environment. 

Adults can also play in the rain. Here, this man is
clearly enjoying the car splash. I'm hoping his
underwear doesn't get (1) translucent, and (2) too
heavy to stay on his hips. LOL

Yes, the saying is a little bit trite, but it's also pretty true. Today
we'll be using our umbrellas and dashing in and out of
our homes and offices. Maybe we should think about putting the
umbrellas away and thanking nature for giving us and our plants
a nice, deep drink. 

So, time to get back to the gym again, machines on today's schedule. I hope each of you has a truly fabulous Thursday and I'll be back tomorrow.

Yesterday Was HARD!

It's not that I was sitting all day (although on my class days, that's exactly what I was doing). But working a full day yesterday, on my feet for nine hours with very little time to sit, was effin' exhausting! I'm not used to this any more. One lousy week and my stamina for work has gone to the crapper. Sheesh!

I like the look of this wall paper, although it's hard to say for sure
just looking at the computer monitor or a printout. I'm hoping to get a
sample of it so that I can see how it works with the other aspects
of the room. 

On the positive side, DH decided that wallcoverings for the living room and hallway can be done this year, so I've started looking through on-line wallpaper samples and I'll try and drop by my local wallpaper decorator store tomorrow. We would like to get it finished before we move everything back into the living room after the carpeting is done.

Getting DH to make a decision is so hard! 

DH thinks the room will be quite light with the carpet we chose, so he wants a darker wallpaper that will bring out some of the darker bits of the drapery. I think that will look fantastic, so that's the direction I'm heading too. Time for samples so that we can see what things look like. Oh Geez! That means forcing him into making another decision! Oy!

Something similar to these mixes by White Fox Beads might work
well for us. I have plenty of containers that we can recycle from
other products. I'll see what Chickie thinks today as well as check
out what we would need to sell them for. 

The store was the disaster I thought it would be when I returned. I'll be checking out empty hooks for quite a while. We've been gathering discontinued and short-stock beads together for a month or so and I have a few ideas about how to market these that I'll run by Chickie today. I also will need her help to get my wonderful six-wheel lapidary equipment moved into the basement from the trunk of my car.

The wheels are used progressively from far left to far right. There is
one additional wheel that can be mounted at the far right. Each
wheel is a higher grit to obtain a higher polish on the stone.
It's a great piece of equipment and I'm really pleased that we have it. 

Oh - didn't know about the lapidary set? Well, my first class (a two-day class) was the inlay hollow form ring. We had three sets of these wheels in the class and the teacher was selling them (at a substantial savings) when class was over. DH had been looking at getting one for several years now, so I phoned him and told him about the price. He jumped at it and so we now have a lovely Diamond Pacific Genie - six-wheel lapidary polishing and shaping unit. Since DH doesn't currently have room in his studio, I'm setting it up at the shop for a while so that I can finish the class project which is 98% done but needs the final polish and shaping. Fun!

Just substitute "she" for "he" and you've about got my life.
I doubt I'll have anyone as famous as Clarence Darrow
speaking about me after I'm dead, however. 

So there we are - back to the gym on a regular schedule now, carpeting and laminate install scheduled for next week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and now with new equipment and new wall covering on my horizon. Life is never dull around my house! Happy Tuesday ... it's good to be back!
