Gardening, Hockey and Planning - Everything Is Pending, It Seems

It was a relaxing Sunday. It's still cold up here (we actually had some snow on the ground on Saturday morning, although it was gone by noon). Still, we're late with our Spring this year. DH and I spent a half-hour or so in the garden, examining which plants were starting to come up, and talking about re-doing the side drainage channel yet again - it must be time 3 or time 4 by now, and it lost it's appeal for me long ago. It's a necessary channel, keeping the water from flooding the embankment on that side, but it seems to always need tweaking from one year to the next. But, the garden, etc it DH's job, and he's more than welcome to it.

We have the barest beginning of plants starting
to come up in the garden. Our plants, actually aren't
even this large yet. But they'll get there. It's been a
cold Spring, so I don't blame the plants at all for
wanting to stay in the warm ground for as long as
possible.

We watched a lot of hockey, and our team lost (some very controversial calls were made in that game). I don't think the refs called it well, and we paid the price. We're now tied 2 each going into Tuesday. This part of the playoffs are best of seven series, so we're definitely still in the hunt to get to the next stage of the Stanley Cup tournament.

It was longer ago than I had remembered,
I found it in my 2017 State Fair photos.
But here's me (left) and Sharon (right)
standing next to, and actually TOUCHING
Lord Stanley's Cup. It was a never-to-be
forgotten experience.

DH still bemoans the fact that Sharon and I had the chance to see and touch Lord Stanley's Cup at the State Fair several years ago (pre-Covid). I totally understand, and we had offered to stand in line with him again if he came out after work. It was his choice, he decided against it, and he still regrets that he wasn't "lucky" enough. Bull-whacky! He wasn't motivated enough to come out after work and make time for it. As for Sharon and I ... it was one of the highlights of the State Fair in our long history of attending it.

I'm not an idiot. I've been to New York City before. I don't
want to get a hotel before knowing where the actual
events will be held. That would be beyond STUPID.
It's a HUGE city, and I don't want to spend my lifetime
on the subway getting from Point A to Point B, or
spending too much money on an Uber or a cab to get
to the choice hotel.

I'm supposed to be going to a family reunion in NYC in mid-August. Although the dates seem to be set, nobody has let anyone know about hotels or even the general area of NYC where it will be held. If I can't get a hotel room, I certainly won't bother getting an airline reservation. I want to go to this, but I'm almost at the point of saying - F__K it. Maybe I'll be able to catch everyone in 2028 somewhere in Europe instead, although I'm not sure how much traveling I'm going to want to do when I'm in my mid-70's. What really bothers me is that this is practically in my back room (compared to the two prior European venues), so it would be easy for me to get to and fro. But it's starting to look doubtful in my mind. GRRRR

The lack of planning for the reunion is driving me
totally crazy. Really? Duh!

So, that's all for now. I'm going to wrap this up, have breakfast, and head over to the shop. Have an excellent Monday and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.

Busy, Busy, Busy - How Can I Be Two Places at Once?

Busy day today, and apparently DH thinks I can be in two places at one time *sigh*. If he'd use his brain, he'd know better.

I can't exactly wake him up when I'm still in the water.
Damn, I really wish he'd use his brain sometimes!

I awakened and when I was heading downstairs, noticed a note on the stovetop asking me to wake him one hour before we have to leave to drop his truck off for servicing. That would be 6:00 am. But I'm still in the pool or the shower at 6:00 pm. So no ... that's not going to be possible because I'm not home to wake him.

I can't shift through time, nor would
I particularly want to. I would just
like for him to actually USE his damned
brain. Now it's looking like he'll be
closing the store right when my family
reunion will be held. I've sent a message
to the organizer to see if absolute
dates have been set yet, but I'm NOT
missing the reunion. Nope - not for
Anything!

But of course I can't tell him that, because I'll be at the gym and he didn't think to discuss this with me when we were both awake last night. STUPID ... my life is surrounded by STUPID. Argh! So I have absolutely no idea how I can accomplish this one. All I do know for a fact is it's going to be a VERY busy early morning.

Today is going to be busy enough, without having
to play Mom to DH and wake him at the appropriate
time (which would be about 6:00 am).

It'll also be a rather cold early morning for the next few days - so I'll be running out to the pool fairly quickly. The water will be wonderful, but the run back inside will also be rather fast. Temp for today's swim should be hanging around 60F (15.5C) and that's chilly with a swim suit on, even if it is a full coverage skin suit.

But, it's a swimming day, and that's a busy day, so I'm signing off here and moving along. Have an excellent Tuesday and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.
