Time for Peeps and Oops

We have a new credit card processer at work. That means that I spent more than an hour on Monday morning (early) getting a new software download into my credit card processing machine and the rest of Monday getting used to using it. I ended up voiding two sales while I was working with customers on Monday because I entered numbers in the incorrect order - the order of our previous processor. But I caught all of my errors and everyone was charged the correct amount before they walked out of the door. I made sure to tell VerLaine to be VERY careful when she was doing credit card transactions because the entries were different than the old routine. Unfortunately, the very first transaction that she did was incorrect and she didn't catch it right away. Instead she ended up overcharging our customer by more than $80. NOT good! Because I had all of the customer service documentation with me at home, I couldn't call customer service to get the transaction corrected, so the very first thing I get to do this morning is to phone them and get the amount corrected before I batch out yesterday's transactions. I just hope that I can manage to get this done - I DON'T need to lose a customer over this. Of course I won't be in the shop at all today, so there is every chance that more errors will occur today. If they catch them right away, void the original transaction, and re-do the sale with the proper amount, it won't be a problem. If they catch it at the end of the day when they try and balance the charges....well, that will be a big problem. Let's see if I can actually manage this without phone calls today .
The Washington Post has their winning Peep dioramas up for viewing. The winner is the very first one - a take-off on UP. It's really adorable. Follow the link to take a look for yourself at the top 38. The best part of Easter are peeps :-)
