Yesterday I reclaimed my house. I did a LOT of laundry, I put the bed back into it's normal position, I deflated the air mattress (which, BTW Sharon, you should have told me it needed additional inflating. I could very easily have done that and you would have been more comfortable), and I did grocery shopping. I had a phone call scheduled for 9:00 am which I missed (I forgot my phone in my car and when I went outside to retrieve it, I only had a voice mail). But I picked up the next-to-last gown from the cleaners and dropped off the final gown of my Mother's to them - a full length black Opera gown.

Sharon's room was all ready for her, with a bouquet of Dahlias and Sunflowers to brighten her mornings. |
I'm putting in five photos of our very first day of Sharon's trip. We had wanted to revisit the Cafesjian Carousel for a ride or two (or three). It had been moved from the State Fair quite a few years ago, and set up in a number of different places, before settling into a building that was built for it, being completely restored, and now operating in Como Park.

The carousel has been completely restored and looks wonderful through the windows of its' new home - a building built specifically for it. |
So we headed out for Como Park after dropping off Sharon's luggage. I knew it was located near Como Town - the kiddie-ride section of our stellar centralized park. Unfortunately, the carousel was closed - having closed at 1:15 pm that day because of staffing issues. We'll have to try again next year, and hopefully will have better luck. We did look through the windows at the glorious horses, however. They're as pretty as ever.
Afterward we took some time and wandered the outdoor lily pad gardens of the Como Conservatory. We couldn't go into the Conservatory itself because we didn't have reservations, so we walked the exterior of the Pavilion (which is magnificent) and talked about our trip to England's Kew Gardens many long years ago. After a delightful catch-up, we returned home and went out to Red Lobster for a delightful dinner, returning home again to get some sleep. The State Fair was calling us and it was going to be an early morning the next day.
So, although the preamble to Sharon's State Fair Trip was a bit of a bust, we still had a wonderful time wandering beautiful places in the heat. As it turned out, it was a hot Fair this year, although not overly hot, without a rainfall or snowfall in sight. That resulted in three days of perfection for us. I'll run through our Friday - First Day at the MN State Fair - tomorrow. Have an excellent day and I'll be back tomorrow. Slava Ukraini.
