A New Phone and Retainer, and Farewell to an Old Friend's Dear Companion

Yesterday turned into a VERY busy day. Of course, I was interrupted by my 11:00 am dentist appointment. This was to pick up a custom retainer that I am supposed to wear at night that will help keep my teeth from shifting. It was all of 10 minutes to get the appliance, try it on, find out the care and feeding directions, and leave. They'll bill me, but $250 is quite reasonable. I wore the retainer last night and was quite comfortable, despite the very snug fit. Leonard did a great job with the final shaping, there wasn't a pressure spot anywhere.

I've never had a retainer or InvisiLine or
anything like that before, so this is a
new experience for me. I think I'll be able
to handle it. Ir didn't seem to bother my
sleep at all.

I had decided to go to the Verizon store on my way home. I had determined I needed a 5G SIM card for "Mini Beast" - my new phone. Apparently phones aren't shipped with SIM cards because each phone carrier uses their own specific type. After a few minutes, the Manager called me over and installed the SIM into the phone for me. When I asked what I owed him, he said I owed him nothing and sent me on my way. Score! A very nice young man indeed.

Apparently SIM cards are unique for the
network that will carry the signal. If I switch
to Sprint or a different network, I'll have to
replace the SIM card. They're quite inexpensive,
usually less than $10, but he was a sweetie
and gave it to me at no charge.

He had warned me that when I turned the "Mini Beads" on, it would become the primary phone on my account and my old phone would no longer be active in the loop. I found that out when I tried to text DH later in the day and my old phone refused to send the text. That amplified my need to get the new phone up and running, and I spent the afternoon on that. I downloaded and transferred my programs and data, got the phone set up, and I'm currently using "Mini Beast" instead of my older phone. All went well. There were a few programs that didn't transfer. I'm checking old and new phones to ascertain which ones they were and whether or not I care about them.

I mostly play Solitaire games, and I had grown tired
of a couple of the ones I played. It wasn't a tragedy
when not all of them transferred successfully. I'll find
new games to replace the old ones. The two I really
like, that I've played for years, transferred completely, so
I'm still at the level I was at yesterday on my old phone.

At 4:00 pm I phone Aearwen for our weekly chat. Her cat, Sadie, had been doing quite poorly for the past week+ and Aearwen was understandably upset. Late in our call, Sadie started acting up and she begged off the call, texting me five minutes later that Sadie had passed. Those of you who are friends of hers, might want to send healing thoughts to her, or a message. It's hard to lose a family member - human or fur-friend.

Sadie was a Bengal cat. I never met her in person, so
I don't have a specific photo of her, but Bengals in
general are quite large and stunningly beautiful. She was
Aearwen's faithful companion for many years and I
know she will be missed by the entire family.

I'm off to the pool. I'll be spending a great deal of time today going through each app on my phone and making sure I'm signed in on it. So far, it seems to be a 50/50 split, and I have a LOT of apps, so it may take me most of the day. Tomorrow I'll see how it photographs. I have to photo crystals for most of my day tomorrow. Have an excellent Thursday, I'm going to bundle up and head out to the swimming pool and I'll be back tomorrow morning. .
