Density Disappointment and A Very Rushed Single Day Off

My bone density test results weren't as good as I had hoped. I won't hear from my doctor for another day or two, but the test results were released to both of us at the same time yesterday. My lower lumbar region in my spine actually improved by 0.8%, so that was one positive, but my left femur decreased another 0.5% and, more worrying, my right femur decided to join the party and decreased 2.3%. I already take calcium and other vitamins, I think I'll add a glass of almond milk to my morning routine since almond mild actually has almost double the calcium of dairy milk. At any rate, it can't hurt to add it to my regime.

Hip fractures are among the most common breaks
for the elderly, and they can derail an active life
in seconds. A weakened femur, the top of the
thigh bone that fits into the hip socket, is a
recipe for disaster. Now, both of mine are
weakened. NOT happy.

I got a new/different pedometer from Amazon yesterday. The only reason I purchased it (I own others and have never been happy with them). is that it claimed it didn't need to be calibrated. Calibrating pedometers is a total PITA. Having one that didn't require that, that recognized your movement by being worn around your neck or within a pocket was a total "Yes, please" from me. So I picked up the CS1 Pedometer from OZO Fitness and added it to my latest Amazon order. I've had it for a few hours now, and have to say, I rather like it. It seems to be tracking steps well, coming quite close to what my fitness watch displays.

I ordered my pedometer in green because I tend to lose
things on my desk unless they are bright colors. But
after having worn it for a day, I rather wish I had
opted for a darker neutral color instead. I like the
pedometer itself, though, and it was very affordable.

I only get one day off this week - Chickie is on vacation on Friday and Saturday. That means I have to crunch a lot into today. I probably won't get much cleaning done which is a total bummer, but I have some kitchen stuff that needs to get done, I need to go grocery shopping, and I have an 11:00 am Zoom call (postponed from yesterday because the moderator was on an airplane during our usual time slot). I'll be leaving the house early today to squeeze everything in and still make that Zoom call.

Even though I'm very rushed this morning, I still started
my day out with 30 minutes of meditation and 1.75 miles on
the treadmill. There are some things I'm not willing to
rush through.

So there you have it - good news/bad news. I'm quite disappointed in my test results and will have to keep a very close eye on things. Unfortunately, I can't get another bone scan until 2023, *sigh*, so I'll just have to hope that whatever I do will have some positive results by then. Have a glorious Wednesday and I'll be back tomorrow.
