I've been going to my current eye doctor and MN Eye Consultants since the early 2000's. At that time I was looking for someone to perform lasik on my right eye - always my eye with extremely poor vision. My mother had passed and I wanted to use a bit of my inheritance for me and for my house while investing the remainder. I re-roofed and re-sided my house, and decided I really wanted to improve my vision. I went hunting for an eye doctor I thought would be great for me to do my lasik.
Dr Davis decided to move into a specialty that was a bit more relaxing and less pressure than cardiac surgery. Good idea! She moved to the Midwest and settled in to MNEye happily. |
I found Dr Elizabeth Davis and decided that any doctor who had graduated first in her class at Johns Hopkins University, then done four years of cardiac surgery residency with them, before deciding to change her focus to ophthalmology, was the perfect person for me. Her bio is more than impressive, and I really liked her when I met her. I've been a fan of hers ever since and have never regretted it. Unfortunately, her schedule and mine are too similar - I only have Wednesdays available for an appointment, and she's at a different location than the one I want to go to on that day. So I'm seeing Dr Omar Awad instead.
Dr Awad had his own practice in our old neighborhood for several years where, among other patients, he treated my father-in-law for cataracts. He gave up his private practice a few years ago and joined MN Eye Consultants instead. (As an aside, his old stand-alone office building was just purchased by my dentist who moved over to their new location last month - small world in a big city). I'm looking forward to meeting Dr Awad. I hope I'm as happy with him as I have been with Dr Davis.
I'm just grateful that our weather has been exceptional. It's been warm, we haven't had snow for more than a week, and the roads are clear and dry. It's a 30-minute drive out to the clinic, longer if the traffic is heavy, and I'm quite pleased to not have to deal with ice and snow and deep cold. I hope all of you have a wonderful Wednesday and I'll be back tomorrow.
