Taxes, Toilet Paper and Politics - A Normal "Day Off"

It's my day off, which of course means that at 4:15 am I already have a load running in the washing machine and I'm catching up with things so that I can get out of here and start my day. DH and I went to our accountant for our personal income tax prep last night. I have to track down three forms today to drop off, but with that exception, we're pretty much done and done. Two of the forms will be a simple on-line long-in and print out. The third might be more challenging - probably a phone call with a lot of waiting on hold. *sigh* Nothing to be done about it.

We almost had everything needed, I just didn't realize we needed
these last three forms. I should be able to get those nailed this
morning and delivered to him this afternoon.

I keep hearing about friends going into various big box stores and finding a serious lack of toilet paper available. Really? Toilet paper? I'm not understanding this. I can understand a run on hand sanitizer (even though it's absolutely deadly for my hands, I'm still carrying packets just in case although I usually just rely on wearing gloves). At least hand sanitizer has a direct purpose. But toilet paper? All I can think is that people fear if they have to go into self-imposed isolation for two weeks, they will run short of the product. I usually buy the large packages, so I'm pretty sure I'm safe from the apocalypse.

I'm not understanding the toilet paper shortage. Why are people stocking
up on toilet paper? It's not an illness that creates the need for a lot
of toilet paper, so why stock up?

I'm going to try and take some relax time for myself today, though. I don't get that often. I'll still have lots of laundry to do, and I hope to make a final decision on the last row in my Owl Project, but I only have grocery shopping to do today, so a light schedule. Next week's day off will be MUCH different - a very crowded morning schedule. That's OK too, but I'm looking forward to a day of relative ease.

I'm so pleased to be back in the pool. I'm even going to push
my skull tattoo back a ways so that I can enjoy the outdoor
pool this summer. I didn't get a chance to swim outdoors at all
last year.

I've been back in the pool several times now, and I'm so happy to be back. My speed is down - I was swimming a mile in 55 minutes, I'm now at a pace of a bit over a half mile in 45 minutes. Still, it's the best exercise I know and I love it. I'm allowing myself to swim three days a week - Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, with floor exercises and two miles of fast-walking on the other two days. Under a time crunch, I'll do 4-5 miles on the bike instead of my two miles on the track, but I prefer the track even though it is BORING!

This is a matchup that could be a disaster either way. When I compare the
two of them, I find too much not to like about both of them. The percentages
below are an exit poll after one primary last week and really aren't
indicative of the nation at all. Biden v Trump will be a close call all around.

In politics, it's looking like we're going to end up with a Joe Biden v Donald Trump election. Basically, milke toast v the Devil. It's not a choice I particularly feel effective, but it's probably what we'll be facing in November. Le sigh ... le sigh.

For all of you who are facing you own personal challenges today, may all go smoothly and may you find some joy in the day. My joy will be a light schedule, warm temperatures, and no snow. What's not to like? I'll be back tomorrow.
