Whirlwinds Got Nothin' On Me!

It's my "day off", and my readers are well acquainted with the fact that those days are as busy, if not MORE busy, than my standard days. Today, however, is ridiculous because my time will be spent driving all over the cities to do doctor things. That means my standards like laundry and grocery shopping will be shoehorned into little bits and pieces of space and time. All I wanted was three appointments with my regular doctor, my dermatologist and an eye doctor. That's all I wanted .... 

That third step stalled me completely out. I guess they don't
actually want you to be able to self-schedule because their
options are comprised of morning or afternoon, no actual
times or open slots into which I could fit. 

I began my quest yesterday by accessing my clinic's website. They claim it will allow patients to schedule with their doctor of choice. NOT! I wanted to schedule my annual (well ... probably better to say somewhat-annual) physical with my doctor. I wanted a morning appointment on any day and put it out for any day between now and the end of November. So ... any morning for more than a month. The website came back to me with "No. Sorry. Can't do that. No ... Could we schedule you for one of her backup team?" 

Hmmm. If I had wanted an appointment with the backup team, I
would have requested one. Not going to happen! 

Ummmm - NO. I like my doctor. After years of not liking a doctor, I finally have one I really like who actually listens to me. I don't want to meet with one of her backup team. But - the website didn't give me any alternative hours/days/possible openings where I could slot in if I could warp my own schedule. Worthless! Also, it didn't even list the secondary departments I needed to get appointments with - dermatology and an eye exam. 

The software - revised or not - was a total piece of crap and a
complete waste of my time. Guess I'm heading over there in
person today to get my appointments scheduled. 

After all of that, the software had the nerve to say something on the order of "We recently redid our software to be more user-friendly. Please share with us your thoughts of how useful our website was to you today." They probably won't like my response of "The most worthless piece of crap software I've used in many years. Just set it on fire and take it out of our misery." 

So today will be started by a quick physical trip to the clinic to schedule the appointments in person. What a waste of my time. Yes, I could have phoned, but that usually ends up with being on hold for 30 or more minutes. Sometimes it's just easier to go there in person. 

On the other side, MN Eye was able to shoehorn me in
for a quick see in their Urgent Case schedule. I'll
be going there this morning and hopefully have a fix
for an eye infection that just won't go away. 

At least my primary eye doctor was able to get me into their Urgent Case schedule mid-morning today to check out an an eye infection that I need looked at. Of course, that's in mid-morning, so my usual schedule is once again shot to crap, and it's at their main location which is 30-45 minutes away in the southern suburbs. But at least I got an immediate response and a next day appointment with them. I guess I feel very grateful that it's not snowing or something equally horrid!
