What's Good For You Can Also Be Bad For You

There's something nice about having a doctor's office that can shoehorn you in at a drop of a hat. I was fortunate that my eye doctor has what they call "Urgent Care" clinics on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and that I was able to get scheduled for yesterday mid-morning. The fact that it was at their main office which was WAAAAAY away from my own location didn't really matter. I needed my eye looked at, a refill of my prescription from 2015, and a plan of action to cure an eye infection that has been bothering me for two weeks.

The medications I use are extremely dangerous
if overused or abused. I watch things very carefully
because I can't afford to lessen their potency or
overuse them in any way. The doctor said I can use
this for no more than a week.

I was early - WAY early - because I wasn't sure how traffic and road construction would affect my drive down. That was OK though. They wouldn't take me early, but I sat with my phone and read my current book - reading is never a problem for me. After finally having my name called, I was brought back into the maze of little office cubicles where my eyes were tested and examined in detail.

Vaseline is one of those amazing products that does
so many things well. The fact that it's greasy is not
always a bad thing. For moisturizing around the
eye, it's one of the best products available.

It turns out that the treatment regime I thought would be appropriate actually is what the doctor recommended, that my prescription will work and is advised for use for no more than a week, and that the Vaseline I thought would be good for keeping things moist was also advised. After I pick up my prescription refill this morning, I'll be stocked with enough of my meds to get me through the next couple of years.

The appointment might have punched a hole in my day, but it was well worth it. Catching up with the remainder of my necessary errands for the day was tight, but got accomplished, so all in all, my "day off" worked out all right, despite the major detour in schedule. Some minor things didn't happen, and the kitchen floor didn't get swept and washed, but in the scheme of things, they will manage to hold on until next week.

Our shed is scheduled for installation tomorrow afternoon. The weather
might be horrid, so getting it up might be much harder than we had
hoped. But the firm doing the work is local and they know what October
weather can be like.

Tomorrow is the day when our shed will be installed. Of course, it's also the day when we're supposed to get our first snowfall of the season - anywhere from 1-4 inches depending on where the winds push the stormfront to. DH is less than pleased with the forecast. If grumpy could move the clouds, they would skip our little section of the state completely for the few hours we need. What it means for me, though, is that tomorrow I'll be pulling out my winter parka for the season. *sigh*

Project Runway is on tonight, so Friday's post will be my general synopsis of the workshop with Saturday the reveal of outfits presented and the judges decisions. We're down to five designers now, so tonight is crucial! Next week should be the first episode of New York Fashion Week.

"WINTER IS COMING!" Have an excellent Thursday.
