We Have Shed!

We Have Shed! I'm rather astounded and amazed, but the Tuff Shed people actually did come on a Saturday and got the shed erected, after being delayed by Friday's snowstorm. Here's what it looks like now!

It's together, it's sturdy and we're very happy.

DH spent part of Sunday putting dirt around the foundation to cozy it up a bit, and then we put things into it, but here's the progression of the build-out.

It was a very cold day, but at least it wasn't snowing so that was a plus. About half-way through DH went indoors and made hot chocolate for everyone, bringing it out to the installers. He can be sweet when he wants to be - LOL.

The first thing to be put down was the galvanized foundation. Looking
at the left front corner, I guess DH wasn't quite as level as he thought he
had been. But it wasn't bad.

First corner is up and DH is starting to get a feel for how it will look.

Now it's up and they're almost ready to start the roof shingles. You can
get a feel for the distance between the patio and the shed here. The
white leaning against the fencing will become the corners and part
of the door.

The trim has been put onto the shed and they are starting work on the
shingles.

The doors are on and it's ready to go. DH had them switch the doors from
a right-hand open to a left-hand one, since we hadn't been given the
option. It looks good!

On Sunday we went out and I had my first look at the shed. I really
like it. It's guaranteed for five years, and they'll be back later this
fall (if we get a warm streak) or in the spring to put the second coat of
paint on it.

The inside is nice - a HUGE improvement over our old
leaking and rusted steel shed. It's pressboard, but that's
what our suburb requires for exterior storage buildings.

The double-door will have lots of room for our wider items
that we rarely use and would like out of our garage. There's
enough room between the door and wall for a 12"
shelving unit and we'll probably put an 18" shelving
unit up along a different wall.

The first things we put into the shed were my milk cans. These have traveled
with me from house to house and have spent the past two years on
top of a palette, covered by a tarp in the backyard. We've moved them
around as needed, but now they have a home. I've been wanting to
make cook things from these for many years. I can hardly wait to try
out my ideas.

So there you have it. The shed being built in slow-time. I'm so relieved that we finally have this part of the project completed. Now we're almost at the point where we can relax for the winter. We've started putting things into the shed, but only those items that were in the patio area and needed protection from the upcoming winter. I'm really happy with it, though.

So, have a great Monday. I'm getting a shorter swim today because I see my Chiropractor, but that's a good trade-off. I'll be back tomorrow!.
