It's Drowning Guppy Day!

Today at the gym is what I call "Drowning Guppy Day", i.e., swimming laps. Yesterday I managed to make a bit of YMCA history *sigh*. The new exercise machines have connections to allow listening to the TV or other external devices through the machine. One of the connections are for iPod, and it is listed as an accepted device. I connected my iPod instead of operating it separately, adjusted the volume (because my album was blowing my ears out) and an error screen came up. But I was totally unable to get out of the error. After calling one of the staff over, they ended up rebooting the machine and I moved over one, tried it once more and got the same error. I gave up and kept my iPod as a separate listening device when I moved over to the recumbent bicycle. Only me ...

I started swimming when I was about this age - very young. I've always
loved the water, but it's boogie board time for me now as I build up
my strength and endurance once more.

I'm abandoning DH to work today. No matter how he may feel, he's going to be working the full day. I'll have to advise Chickie that this does NOT mean he's working the sales floor. Except for bathroom breaks, she'd better be able to work the floor. I don't need a customer getting sick because he's coughing on them.

DH did follow my advice and bring a space heater along with him to
the shop on Monday. It's been very important in keeping his back
area warmer. He sits at his desk dressed in his winter outdoor parka, space
heater off to the side and works on his tablet. Given that his hair is long and
he wears glasses, this pic isn't too far off the mark (shoes instead of slippers though).

It seems like the coughs are less intense, but they are still very much a constant. I don't think he's gotten very much sleep in the past week or so and I feel very sorry for him. But, it's the Creeping Crud and he tends to fall into these types of illnesses and have steep crawls back. I'm keeping my distance because I have NO intention of catching this one. It's miserable and nobody's going to be giving ME a week+ off followed by minimal work. Nope - not going to happen.

Just look at the temps expected for the next five days. Not a sub-zero
in the bunch! I'm SO happy!

It's actually 18F outside - an effin' Heat Wave - and a very nice change from the -20 wind chill I was facing yesterday morning as I left the gym to go to work. The remainder of the week will be nice and 'warm' (for winter) and he'll have the three days off to try and nip this head/chest cold in the bud. We're planning on joining friends for a very nice dinner on Saturday night, so having him not hacking through the meal would be very pleasant. We'll see.

My thoughts today are as tangled as these rambling roses.

In any case, today's post is a rambling rose, tempting bees to just flit from one thing to another, then back again. No great philosophies for today, just a wish that you have a wonderful Wednesday and that my thoughts are a bit more on focus for tomorrow. Hurrah for Wednesday!
