Where Would I Travel If I Could?

So tomorrow I leave (not on a jet plane - just in my car) for the next state and a week of flame, chemicals, alcohol and one of my good friends - a week of intensive fun. I will NOT be posting my blog for a week because I am too busy to blog, and frankly just keeping up with occasional Emails, etc will be enough. I probably will check in with my Facebook on my phone every now and again, so if you're friends with me there, you may hear a sentence or two.

Here are places I would visit if I was leaving on a jet plane...

I thought I'd spend this post with pictures of places I've wanted to visit. Now that I'm tickling 60, I have to realize that I may never see some of these places in person, but it's good to have future goals, isn't it? So here are the places I wish I could travel to if money, time, and physical strength were not part of my reality.

No matter the pollution of nearby Cairo, the uncertain political
situation or the difficulties of language and religious differences,
there is something totally magikal about Egypt. It's a place I've wanted
to visit for many years. I probably will never get there in person, but
I will always want to be there traveling up the Nile visiting monuments
all the way.

If I'm in Egypt, I'd have to make a side trip to Petra in Jordan. This city of rock
in the Jordanian desert has fascinated me since I first saw pictures of
it more than 45 years ago. What an amazing place. Yes - I'd have to visit Petra.

Continuing the journey, I'd have to stop by Greece, the foundation of democracy
and home of those sexy Spartan men (yum!). There's a lot to see in and around Greece,
so I'd grab some wine, eat olives, and dance my way from Greece to...

Italy. I want to see Michalangelo's "David" in person. Stand
there and just look - for a few hours - LOL. Then I'll look at
the rest of Florence. I'm actually thinking of renting by the week before
I continue to...

Barcelona, Spain, home of works by Picasso and Gaudi, great food, wonderful
wine, Spanish rhythm and guitar, and a language that I actually understand
(somewhat). But I know after hearing it for a few days, I'll be conversant in
Spanish again, and I love the sibilant sounds of European Spanish.

Oh to Paris and the Louvre. I'd like to hop to Vienna to see the city where
my parents met, and I'd love to see Prague, the city where my grandparents lived, but
if I had to cut things out, I could leave those for another trip or time. But Paris -
no. How could I possibly justify missing a personal visit to the Louvre?

Well, I'm about half-way through my world tour of places I want to visit, but that's enough pictures for today. I'll pick this theme up again later and continue my imaginary trip through the places I want to visit. Enjoy your next week and I'll be back posting during the week of the 9th.
