What to Wear?

We're colder than normal for the season, but we're getting lots of rain. So it's humid. Even though I'm cold one minute, if I put on my cardigan, I'm pulling it off again less than five minutes later because I'm too hot. I'd call the whole thing hot flashes except...been there, done that, bought the shirt and have no intention of visiting the Theme Park of Menopause again. So...given those facts and well-trodden territory, what does a person wear when the weather is uncooperative?

In the 1960's this was considered an appropriate hairstyle for a night
out. In the late 1960's the alien life form left Earth for other planets and
we were allowed to let our hair down again. Can't you see the intelligence
lurking behind that camouflaging jewel?

It's raining. No...it's not nice rain, walk with lovers in the park rain or look at rainbows rain. No...it's raining buckets from heaven rain. Somewhere some deity decided that they wanted to wash their floors by turning on the celestial hose and started pressure washing their surfaces, allowing it all to fall on us. I like rain, but I like rain where I feel I can run from my car to a building entrance without looking like a drowned cat by the time I arrived at the doorway. I like a gentle and cleansing rain, not a "wash your filthy hide" rain. I'm not fond of this rain.

Somewhere a cat is deliriously happy for the rainstorms,
but I'm not.

But it's not snowing. Actually, if it was snowing it would probably have dumped six inches of white crap into my driveway with our overnight storms. Even our local newscasters just called our storms "thunderstorms with attitude". That's two nights in a row that we've had some substantial, loud and heavy rain-bearing thunderstorms at 1:30 am -2:00 am. I guess I'm grateful that we're in a warm track right now - we'll get into the 70's today - WHOOPIE! Allow me to hold my suspicions and celebrations. I know we'll be colder again tomorrow.

Thunderstorms are so beautiful, but I'm happy I have a roof to protect
me from the lightning and rain.

And the weather pattern will be following me to Milwaukee next week. We'll have daily temps in the 60's and 70's and lots of clouds and rain. I'm suddenly very grateful that my hotel joins to the Convention Center via skyway - I won't have to get wet unless I really want to.

This particular skyway is in downtown Minneapolis, but
skyways are common in my area as well as other areas of the
Midwest. My hotel joins to the Convention Center via a
skyway - very convenient.

I spent a while yesterday gathering my tools together for my classes. I think I'd better throw a few more t-shirts into my bag - just because I'll be dealing with open flames and chemicals, so I don't want to wear anything flammable or that I would mind getting acid burned in a class. I know I put a few cotton shirts into my suitcase, but should probably add another two.

Standard tools for jewelry work are the chain nose, the side cutter
and the round nose pliers. These come in many sizes and tip shapes, but
the goal is the same - hold things firmly without permanently
marking the metal.

I could have gotten away with only two tools - a round nose and a chain nose pliers - except one class where the instructor had a massive "bring these tools" list. So I ended up with a bunch of crap for my first class. But after that I can put them into my suitcase and just carry a couple of pairs of pliers to all of my other classes. Easy. I'll double-check my supply lists today to make sure I didn't miss something important, but it seems pretty easy. My roommate arrives in Milwaukee today, her first class starts tomorrow. OK - now I'm starting to get excited and happy...
