Legal Decisions and Fun Projects

The Supreme Court enters its final day of the session today so rulings on the two pending cases dealing with same sex marriage will be read later today. I can't walk with fingers, toes and everything else crossed, but they are because I'm so nervous about this decision. I suspect/hope that the court will rule to send the Proposition 8 question back to the state for amendment, but that they will strike down the Defense of Marriage Act. However, after yesterday's Voting Rights decision, I hold no massive hope for rational thinking about true marriage equality and civil rights. It's such a battle.

I was going to pick up my new computer today, but Dale is swamped with builds for people whose systems got fried in our thunderstorms so I told him to take his time and pushed him off another week. My computer still works even though a new one will be faster/cooler, yadda-yadda-yadda. I can wait a few more days.  So that leaves me with errands and projects instead.

My bench isn't this organized *sigh* but a girl can dream....

I need to reshape a stone for a turquoise ring that was brought in for repair. I wanted to work on it yesterday but was missing a key component. I have it now and will work on this in the early morning hours before the store opens. It's quite close in shape, just needs a bit shaved off the length and width to fit the bezel. Hopefully the owner won't lose any more. I don't mind repairs like this, but finding stones that work well with the others in color and shape can be a challenge.

I think I'll settle down with a project or two for the afternoon after my errands are complete. A few hours of time to work without interruptions will do wonders for the piece I'm working on. That said, I also need to do a real clean of this room because it's getting to me - too messy and too cluttered. It's time for a major clean. So...either way I'll be in this room, but whether I'll allow myself to do something fun or dive into the cleaning instead remains to be seen.
