It Was a Rather Frustrating "Day Off"

Yesterday was NOT a good day. I wanted to re-do one picture mat that I wasn't totally happy with, and needed some mat to give it a try. So I went to International Picture Framer and purchased two mats - one for the exterior and one for the interior mat of this picture. I also ordered frames for two minis that I finished up last week.

I'm trying to do something similar to this - a very narrow
black mat against the picture, then a larger colored mat
surrounding it before the frame is attached. I can't seem to
make it happen, though. I suspect it's the black core - I love
working with it, but I'm going to switch to a standard core
and I think I'll have greater success.

When I got home, I started in on the project and it turned into a disaster. *sigh* I'm going to Blick's on Wednesday to get a new piece of black mat and I'll try again then. I'm not getting straight cuts, and I'm not really sure of why. I'll need to figure this out, though. The supplies are not inexpensive and I'm paying for them with my own funds since the store shouldn't have to pay for my mistakes. At least the two minis are ready to go and they look great.

I have a professional grade mat cutter similar to
this one. It shouldn't be cutting anything other than
straight, but it's pulling a slight curve into the
cut that shouldn't be there. I'm fighting the machine.
*sigh*

I also tried to convert my next audio book into appropriate format, but my license for conversion had expired and I had to purchase another one. I use this all the time to convert my audiobooks into MP3 or MP4 format to listen while I'm swimming. The purchase of the new license went fine, but I still haven't received the confirmation email with my new sign-in code. *sigh* I have until Tuesday to get the book loaded, but I'd like it to happen sooner rather than later.

Sometimes things just don't go right, no matter how
hard you try. Yesterday was one of those days. *sigh*

And, that's what my Friday was - a lot of start and stop and back up and turn around crap. Finally, DH wanted to go to Michael's and pick up some paint. He's been repairing Katchina dolls so that we can bring them down to our auction house in Santa Fe and sell them. A week or so ago, he had an issue with a large delivery truck in our store's parking lot and he scraped the passenger side of his truck against their truck, causing damage to his truck. Well, it turns out the passenger door can't be opened now, so he'll have no choice but to bring it in for repair. *sigh* He wasn't very happy about it, but it was his own fault (for a change).

So, have a good weekend. I'll be back on Monday, hopefully with my next book loaded onto my headphones and a better outlook on life in general 0 LOL. *hugs* to all and Slava Ukraini.
