A Tale of Progress - Writing, Growing and Hockey

Although I was crazy busy all day yesterday, I didn't get a single word written down, and the story is due by noon, my time, today. Time to get hustling. I could take a strike, but I've had something perched in the back of my brain. I'll pound it out and see if it's worth allowing into the light of day before taking any strike.

I despise hand writing, preferring to use the keyboard
for everything. Of course I used to hand write a lot -
all of my class notes were handwritten. But, my
penmanship is horrible and has no style at all, and
often I can barely read what I write. I write a short
note to DH every day before I leave for work, and
that's about it for handwriting.

Well ... I took a quick 15 minutes away from writing this to jot down a story that I think might just do. I'll review and revise when I've finished with my blog, and if I like it enough, I'll go ahead and post it. I assume votes will open later today or by tomorrow at the latest, and I'll post a link tonight or tomorrow for those of you interested in voting for my tale. So, one thing down, and probably a few hundred more to do today before I can sleep tonight.

If I like my short story, I'll make final revisions and
get it posted. The prompt this week just didn't
entice me, but the initial thought I had several
days ago worked, and I'm fairly happy with the
result.

It's looking more and more as if the Stanley Cup final will come down to the Colorado Avalanche (Go Avs!) and the NY Rangers. If so, it will be an outstanding battle for the Cup. Both teams have had a stellar season and seem to be peaking at the right time. Of course I'm supporting Colorado. If Minnesota was still in it I would be cheering the Wild, but the Avalanche are my team away from home. I reverse the order for football. I'm a Denver Broncos fangirl first and foremost, with the Minnesota Vikings coming in second place in my heart.

It's looking more and more like the finals for this year's
Stanley Cup will be the Colorado Avalanche v the
New York Rangers. That's a match-up I can live with -
both great teams. Of course they each have to win a
few more games in the semi-finals first, but I have
a good feeling about this match-up.

I looked around my garden thoroughly yesterday. I'm quite pleased with my peas - it's looking as if I have almost 100% germination from those seeds. The beans, on the other hand, are lagging a bit more behind. I need to carefully read my directions for both plants. They still have a few more days until they've reached their 2-week time frame and I still have new beans sprouting. I'm quite pleased, though. They are the first vegetables I've grown in more than two decades and I adore fresh veggies. I'll make good use of whatever crop I'm able to get from these little green sprouts.

My beans are supposed to be bush style, and my peas will
climb the trellis DH made for them. It's early days, but they're
coming up and seem to be happy in their area. Now to keep
the moles from eating them.

I'm wrapping this up so that I can proofread and revise my "All Hat, No Cattle" story. With luck, I can get that posted within a half-hour or so, and have one less thing on my mental "to do" list for today. Have an excellent Saturday and a terrific Sunday, I'll be back on Monday.
