Bells, Chimes and a Bit More - A Photo Blog for Earth Day

Today I'm going with a photo blog. A few days ago I had discussed wind chimes, and I had said that I had chimes and bells throughout my house. I thought I'd take photos of what I have and share them with you today. So here we go - a quick look at my varied indoor chimes and bells.

Starting in the kitchen, here's my largest
set of chimes, set between a kitchen
cabinet on the right, and the spice cabinet
DH made for me years ago on the
right. You also get to see one of the
baskets that I've collected over the
years sharing the chimes' hook. This
set rings out whenever that cabinet door
is opened. It's quite lovely, and fairly loud.

Moving from the kitchen to the short hallway.
To my right is this lovely three-bell chime
situated on the wall next to the upper yard
doorway. It's got a sweet sound to it. Because
it's in an out-of-the-way location, I rarely
get to listen to it.

In the front entryway is this lovely
Spanish-style bell that I inherited
from my Mother. The needlepoint
below it is also one of her pieces. Mom
had this bell in several homes - she loved
the Spanish style a great deal and
decorated our newer Aspen house
totally in Spanish-style custom
furniture and fixtures. The bell and
two candle sticks, along with wonderful
memories are all I've got of
that house.

Looking ahead in the living room area, my lovely
dragons are attention hogs and couldn't resist
being included. So here we have Scatha, my
hand-made hammered copper lamp, in front of
my glass shelving that holds my 50 collectible
dragons. I do love them and they look wonderful
on their pedestals. But, like I said, they're
attention hogs. They're also not chimes or bells. LOL

Moving down to the den in the lower level,
here we have another small bell. This
one is positioned next to the door that leads to
the outdoor patio. Again, it's a sweet sound,
but not very loud. I think I actually inherited this
bell from my in-laws.

A bit farther along the same wall is my personal
wall space. Here I have artwork that I've had
made for me or given to me, and two musical
instruments - a thumb harp and an atonal
perfectly tuned striking keyboard that I purchased
in Taos, New Mexico many years ago. On the
upper left is an enamel piece I made years ago
to accompany a fanfiction piece written by a
friend. At that time I was doing a lot of illustration
of fanfics, but this was the only enamel one I
ever did.

And finally, in the computer room is the
wind chime that started all of this several
days ago when it suddenly chimed one
clear note in a room that gets no air
movement, at least at that time of the day
and in the cold time of the year.
It's got a lovely clear sound, but I
shouldn't have heard it at all. Ghosts! LOL

So, there you have it. A small look into my house chimes and bells with a little bit extra thrown in. There's actually one more small bell handing to my immediate right attached to my computer desk's superstructure, but I forgot to take a photo of it. I also have a large bell that's really made for the outdoors. I haven't found a good place to put it yet, but I'm going to find the right place, maybe this year. Right now it's in a box in the corner of my breakfast nook.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday. It's a "day off" for me, and I suspect I'll be quite busy because that's usually the norm for my days off. Still, it's all good. I'll be back tomorrow. Peace - Slava Ukraini.
