The Fridge is Here, and I'm Cleaning Like the Devil is On My Trail

The new refrigerator was delivered yesterday. I'm glad I wasn't there. They tried to get it through one set of doors and couldn't. Then tried a different set of doors and barely managed. The problem was they couldn't figure out how to remove the door that holds the water dispenser. I admit, it's a little more complex than removing a few screws, but it's not THAT difficult. The directions are in the documentation. Still - they managed to get it inside and hooked up.

The new refrigerator looks quite happy
in its' new home. You can see the smallest
yellow corner of the oven. I haven't
gotten word on the progress of our oven
order, but we don't use it often, so it's
not as high priority as the refrigerator
was.

We've got the water dispenser shut off right now. The previous installers had set up the copper piping from the basement water pipe up to the kitchen, and we had used it a little bit, but then shut the automatic ice maker off and never used it again. Taking a more careful look at the install last night, DH discovered they had actually attached (soldered) the feeder pipe onto the HOT water pipe, instead of the COLD water one that was supposed to be used. Ugh! They also had soldered the feeder pipe onto the bottom of the larger pipe instead of the side, or even more optimally, the top. In other words, the entire setup was screwed up. We'll get it redone when we get a plumber in to take care of several different things that need work.

Ideally, a feeder line should be added to a
vertical pipe, but if adding to a horizontal
pipe, it should be on the top, or at worse,
on the side, NOT the bottom where it
will get sludge into the pipe which will
clog the smaller diameter. It's basic
plumbing 101 and the installers from
the previous refrigerator should have known
that much.

DH started putting food back into the new fridge as soon as temperatures were low enough. He added more items, let the temperature readjust down again, then added more. By the time I got home, he was almost finished. We lost a LOT of food. I'll be doing the beginning of some serious grocery shopping today, and maybe we'll both go out on Sunday to get some more. I also have a car full of stuff I'm donating to Goodwill that I have to get dropped off today. I need to make a quick list of what I'm dropping off, and then it's pretty easy in/out to clean my hatch up once again.

OMG, I miss my Alkagizers. To get the same nutrients
as I get in a single glass, I had to eat two HUGE salads
every day for the past few days. I love salad, but that
was overkill.

On today's agenda for me is getting the things I need for my Alkagizers back into the fridge and pulling out my blender, getting a new batch of four blended up and chilling. I'm probably stuck with salads for one more day, but I can hardly wait to get back to my Alkagizers once again. I've missed my veggie smoothies.

I really do have to shift into high gear. I know things won't
be as clean as I would like, but it just wasn't in the stars.
I'm still going to try my best to get as much as possible
done before Sharon arrives, and I'll have to add some
hours to my remaining Sundays as well. *sigh*

So I'm out of here. It's going to be a very busy "day off". I only have four more days off until Sharon arrives, so I'm in HIGH cleaning mode - no time to waste at all. Time to start making my shopping list and working out a tentative schedule for the day. It'll be a VERY busy one. Have an excellent day and I'll be back tomorrow. Please stay safe and be kind.
