Olympic Winners to Celebrate - We Had Fun Catching Events While Working

Congratulations to the British Men's Synchronized Diving Team, Thomas Daley and Matty Lee, for their Gold Medal win. I adore synchronized diving. I've been watching it for years now, and always enjoy it. This pair are a real delight, and it was a VERY tight match against the Chinese team who are always a powerhouse in this sport. It literally took all ten dives to give the victory and was a nail-biter throughout. What fun!

Thomas Daley and Matty Lee pulled out a hard-fought
Gold Medal performance on the 10 Meter Platform
event yesterday. They were a joy to watch - almost
total perfection with barley a difference between
them. Bravo!

An American woman, Carissa Moore from Hawaii, won our first Gold Metal in Women's Surfing yesterday. I didn't get to see the two top competitors compete, although I did catch some of the men's competition on Sunday. Brazil pulled out the Gold Medal for the men. The surf appeared higher and rougher on Monday, which makes sense since there's a Tropical Storm headed towards Japan.

The waves were choppier in Tokyo Bay for the finals of
the surfing competition. Carissa Moore from Hawaii pulled
out a Gold Medal performance against a talented South
African surfer.

The on/off rain and high humidity didn't seem to affect the skateboarders for the Women's Final of Street Skateboarding yesterday, but it was a day for the young. The winner, Japan's Momiji Nishiya and the Silver Medalist, Brazil's Rayssa Leal are both 13 years old, and the Bronze Medal winner, Funa Nakayama is the eldest of the group, at 16. More than half of the competitors were under 18 in this competition. Pretty amazing!

The new event of Skateboarding - both Street and Park
styles, have pulled in the youngest competitors in
the Olympics. Here we have the winners in the Female
Street Skateboarding event - two 13-year-olds and
the odd one out - a 16-year-old Japanese Bronze
medalist. These girls make me feel ancient! LOL

Finally, Archery. I don't know how many of you have tried to shoot an arrow at a target, but it looks a lot easier than it actually is. The finals in Men's Team Archery were held yesterday and it came down to a battle between Korea and Chinese Taipei. The goal is to get your arrows into the smallest area on the target - the circle that counts 10. Korea blew it out of the water. In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, they hit perfect 10's eleven out of twelve times! In fact, they only were out of center 5 of 18 arrows, and those were barely out. They wiped the floor with Taipei and took the Gold  firmly in hand. Beautiful and amazing to watch.

Taipei couldn't afford any mistakes against Korea, but
Korea shot an astounding PERFECT round to really
nail their Gold Medal performance. (They also won in
the new competition of Mixed Doubles. Obviously
Korea takes their archery seriously.) I'm including
a link to the You Tube recording of their winning
match. It's worth watching - a round of perfect 10's
is unheard of and historical.

I hope all of you are having a wonderful day and that you have your own personal triumphs today. We all face difficulties, or times that push our patience or stamina. Forge through them and award yourself your own Gold Medal as you go to sleep tonight. You too deserve to stand on the top step and be applauded for all that you do. Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow.
