Usually all of the Runway fashions are available by this time, but today they aren't. I'm not sure why they aren't there, but I have to move on. I'll try to post my Project Runway post tomorrow instead. |
That leaves me at a bit of a loose end today, but (fortunately or unfortunately) I never seem to run out of things to say. I haven't done a year-end recap yet, something I always do to clear out the old and begin the new. I think it's about time I catch up with some of that.
I can't get the Project Runway photos right now, so I'll do my long overdue year-end recap instead. |
First, I read 151 books last year, and started but didn't want to finish eleven more. I keep a list in my phone, adding books to it as I buy the e-copies and I put a quick review (one to five stars) and a checkmark behind each title and author as I finish each one. I'm a pretty easy grader - there are a lot of 5-star ratings in my list, but my criteria is easy. Write an entertaining book with good characters who act in character. Although I love an HEA, it's not mandatory (HEA = happily ever after ending).
Second, I worked out at the gym 253 times last year. This number is lower than previous years because I had serious rotator cuff issues that cropped up in the Spring, took me out of the swimming pool, and sent me to my Physical Therapist, Joe. By mid-year my shoulder was starting to feel better, but he told me to take an extra day off from the gym, so my 6-day-a-week schedule dropped down to five-days-a-week instead. I'm still on that schedule, the shoulder is 95% back in condition, and we're working on leg strength because of some knee issues I was having. I see him once a month now, and as long as he feels he can help move me forward, we'll continue on a once-per-month meeting. Eventually I'll stop seeing him and probably switch over to a personal trainer at the YMCA.
I received just short of 25 holiday cards from friends and family. I still have them decorating my mantle and I smile when I look at them every day. I'll pull them off within the next week and scan and share the ones that were beautiful and unusual, but whether the card you sent is in that shorter list, please know that I loved EACH AND EVERY ONE and appreciate the fact that you took time, effort and a bit of money to send one to me. THANK YOU!
Finally, although my weight goes up and down, and January 1st is a HORRIBLE time to gauge weight (holiday meals, cookies and special treats abound), I still kept my weight under control. I tend to be a bit heavier in the winter months, and I'm not objecting to a bit more padding when dealing with sub-zero temperatures. I'm keeping a careful eye on it and not letting it get away from me.
So there you go, a recap, but not of a runway, just little old me instead. It was a year of a lot of changes in my life - my alopecia being primary among them (I'm still getting used to aspects of alopecia *sigh*). Still, as the saying goes, "she persevered". I hope to post the Project Runway blog I had intended for today on Saturday morning instead, and I hope each of you have a wonderful day. I'll be dealing with 8"-15" of snow over the next 30 hours or so. Le sigh!
