Holiday Cards Wrap-up

I actually was able to see the Super Blue Blood Moon yesterday. Our snowstorm had a hard edge, and when it blew out toward the East, the moon was being eaten by the earth's shadow. I was able to watch most of it while shoveling my driveway after my swim. Although it was clearer in other places, (we still had high, wispy clouds, making it dimmer than in other places), it was still pretty kewl.

Now for something totally different.

Since I finally have a functional printer, I had a chance to scan in some of the holiday cards sent to me from friends and e-friends across the world to share with all of you. This post will be photo heavy and text light, but they are so very pretty and I wanted to show you some of them. I have them in alphabetical order, and want to thank each and every one of you who sent me a holiday card that brightened up my life and that of DH. We loved each and every one of them.

BinkasLibrary - this wonderful skiing Santa with skinny,
flying reindeer hustling through a snowy forest was
colorful, brilliant, and delightful. She lives in Warsaw,
Poland, so it traveled some distance to reach me.

I've received bi-lingual cards in the past, but never one in English
and Welsh before. cmcmck sent this wonderful bi-lingual card and
I got a total kick from it. Here's the text:
Wishing you a Merry Christmas ad a Happy New Year - and in Welsh ...
Dymuniadau gorau ar gyfer y Nadolig a'r Flwyddy Newydd.
How wonderful is that?!

The fun of having friends around the world is getting
cards like this one from a jeweler friend in the
Netherlands. I wouldn't be seeing these iconic
windmills on cards from the USA. Thanks go out
to Hans and Annie for this winner.

In what may be one of the most beautiful cards I've
ever received, I got this from my friend Iris who
lives in Germany. The card is carved, impressed, and
colored wood mounted on a photo background. Truly
stunning, it took my breath away.

I've known Jenybeth for her entire life, she's almost like a niece. She's
a talented crafter and usually makes her cards by hand. This lovely
multi-layered card featured silver elements on a dark blue background.

This colorful card came all the way from Kei in South Africa. I can't
help but smile when I look at it. The style reminds me of cards from
the Southwest US, but the backdrop is absolutely Cape Town.

This delightful sleeping cat card is from my long-time e-friend, LindaHoyland.
I was astonished and touched that she would send me a physical card. She
often will send me e-cards, but rarely spends the extra money for a
paper card. The image is adorable and I proudly had it on the mantle
with the others.

Samtyr sent this one to us, and I thought it was so
cute! The happy snowman and that colorful bird.
It's like the bird I sent on my own card moved
out from the trees and onto a hillside. The birds
could be cousins - their coloring is the same.

Shirebound moved from warm California to cold and
snowy New Jersey over the past year. She found this
beautiful winter scene to send my way and I adore it.
I hope she's not finding winter to be too much of a
chore after those many years of warm, sunny weather.

My friend, the incredibly talented and artistic Shruti from Delhi, India,
chooses one of her own artworks to have printed on a card that
she sends to almost 500 people around the world. This year's
offering was this lovely mandala that she used a white-ink gel
pen to draw, atop a watercolor background. It's stunning, as always,
and I'm honored to be her friend and sometimes her roommate
at conferences.

Sometimes it's the fun that catches me. For
this card from Tinnean, I had to cut it apart
to scan it. Each word was another panel, with
the words actually a glittery cut-out at the top
of a blue and snowflaked sentiment. I loved it.

So there you have some of the cards that shared my holiday season. I'm sorry it's so photo heavy, but tomorrow is a Project Runway All-Stars synopsis post, and I didn't want to separate the holiday cards post into two weeks of photos. I want to thank each and every one of you who sent physical or e-cards to your friends, or who thought kind thoughts about friends and relatives over the holiday season. Positive thoughts can change the world.

Have a glorious Thursday and I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with some fun dramahhh to report from the Project Runway All-Stars workroom. Be good, stay safe, and enjoy your day.
