The first of the two football games yesterday was hard-fought and fun to watch. One controversial call could have changed the outcome of that game. As is was, however, New England took the win with a 24 to 20 final score over the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'm disappointed. I wanted those Jaguars on the field in two weeks.
My own game was not as close. Although the Minnesota Vikings scored the first touchdown, the remainder of the game turned into missed passes, dropped balls, and poor run patterns from then on, resulting in a spectacular loss of 38 to 7. Philadelphia is heading to the Superbowl in two weeks, and we're cleaning out our lockers on a day that could be a LOT of snow or just a dusting. It was a great season, but it ended really poorly - with a blowout.
The Minnesota Vikings is a old team, founded in 1961. We've been to the Super Bowl four times and have lost each time. No wonder I stick with my Denver Broncos! |
Now we get two weeks before the Big Game, and since it takes place in our own US Bank Stadium here in Minneapolis, I'll still be breathing football for a while. That's OK, I always watch the Super Bowl, but I'm disappointed that both contending teams are from the Northeastern part of the US. It makes for a very narrow scope of fans and really is rather boring. Come on, teams in the West. Get your acts together and make the Super Bowl something more than the Tom Brady show!
Ah well, just one more game I'll need to pay attention to and then my focus can switch over to Ice Hockey. At least that's a more appropriate sport for a northern state that lives in the ice, snow and cold for months on end. And speaking of snow, we're supposed to get some today. We're right on the border of "next to nothing" and "5 inches to 13 inches of wet and heavy snow", so some serious head scratching is going on between the computer models. Whatever happens, it will start while I'm at the gym this morning but really hit once I'm at the store for the day. It'll just be for one day, but that one day can mess things up for weeks. Ick!
The Philadelphia Eagles actually played a really good game after a somewhat rocky start. Since I really don't like Tom Brady and the Patriots, I guess I'll be cheering on the Eagles in two weeks. |
So there we have it - a negative (the loss of the football game) and a second negative (a wet and heavy snowfall that will really mess up our roads). I'll be happy to get home tonight and veg for a few hours before starting it all again. Have a great Monday, drive carefully if you're affected by this crazy storm, and I'll be back tomorrow.
