Rushed And A First Look At 2017's Accomplishments

Short and sweet today because I was super rushed last night, resulting in my having to get my gear together this morning instead of last night. Add in the fact that I actually slept until my alarm awakened me and there we go - rushed, minimal time, etc. Ack!

It's easy to make and bring mini meatballs to
a get-together. I still haven't made up my
mind about Bar-B-Que or Sweet and Sour, though.

I've got New Year on my mind now. Sunday is the last day of 2017 and I'm going to my niece's house to celebrate the holidays with the extended family. I'm not exactly sure who will be there, but there's a lot of them. It'll be a lot of fun, but I'll also be quite relieved when it is over and we're back home again. Since it's a pot luck, I signed up to bring mini-meatballs in either a Bar-B-Que or Sweet and Sour sauce. I guess I'd better get going on those because right now, I don't even have the meat or sauce supplies purchased yet!

I write my daily gym attendance and weight down every
day in my calendar. It gives me something concrete to
keep track of my ups and downs.

I was looking over my calendar this morning as I added today's weight and gym attendance number. Including today, (and adding in tomorrow because it's almost a guarantee,) I will have been at the gym a total of 279 days this year. I don't go when I'm out of town at the Bead & Button Show, and I don't go when Sharon is here for her annual four-day walk-a-thon through the State Fair and the Renaissance Festival. I also don't go on Sundays because that's my day to sleep in. Still, I'm not displeased - 279 is a pretty good number.

Of course I put on a few pounds during the holidays, but I'm also down five pounds, and had at least two times when I hit ten pounds below my start weight of January 1st - so many months ago. As I stand right now, I'm eight pounds away from my goal weight, and I've been losing and maintaining within a reasonable level for more than two years now. One more thing that I'm pretty happy about.

I'm always reading -have joked about being born with a
book in my hand. That's probably not all that inaccurate.
If I have five minutes, I'll have my nose in my current
e-book.

On the art front, I didn't get a chance to do much, but I was quite happy with my holiday cards this year, so that's a win. I read a lot of books - a LOT of books - and still have a nice number on my TBR list. That's giving me a new year to look forward to.

I'm looking forward to 2018 although it will be a LOT of work
and a lot of changes for us. Still, I think it will be a good year.

So how did your 2017 stack up? I still have one more post for the year, but thought I'd throw this out one day earlier. I consider it a good year when I've made friends, helped people, and kept up with my blog, my gym visits and my self-improvement goals. I succeeded in all of that. It was a harsh year for many, though, and my heart goes out to everyone who will look back on 2017 as a year touched with sorrow or loss. Here's hoping 2018 will be better, happier, and filled with love and acceptance.

Have a great Friday, I'll be back tomorrow for my final post of 2017.
