Post # 1300 and a Look at Valentines Day

Today is post number 1300 in my blog, a multi-year journey of personal exploration, pretty pictures, and general talk about whatever strikes me. I was never successful at keeping a diary when I was younger, and even when asked to journal various times in my life I was unsuccessful. Yet I can blog and indeed, I normally post six days a week. Why does my blog work for me when nothing else ever did? I am bewildered by it and have no real explanation. The only thing I know as a fact - if I had to hand-write any of these posts, it wouldn't happen. At all! I really hate the entire process of hand writing and usually can't read my writing afterwards anyway. Without a keyboard there would be no blog.

Happy Valentine's day to all of my friends and occasional readers. This celebration of love has a long history dating back into the Middle Ages, but today's standard gifts of flowers, cards and chocolate is relatively new. Valentine's Day is considered an appropriate day for marriage proposals and weddings, but I suspect that suicide attempts by those who feel that they have been spurned or that nobody will love them in their lives also increase. So I'm asking all of you to spread the love today.

Don't be shy - tell someone that they are important to you. It doesn't have to be your sweetie, it can be a good friend who gets told how important their friendship is, a parent or relative who gets told how important their lessons or time was over the years, or just spending a quiet time sitting next to someone and sharing time and space with them. Is someone you know having a hard time? Let them know that they have a friend in you. And on that note, here are pictures of couples for all of us to share on this day of love and acceptance.
