Four Day Countdown

So, today begins my Year-End Four-Day Sale, an inventory reduction sale and the last chance for us to get sales in 2012. Because we are hoping we will be busy - hopefully VERY busy - I will be working today instead of taking my day off. At least we have decent weather, therefore weather problems won't come into it...not yet. It is four days and we'll probably get some snow during the week just because it's December in Minnesota.

It was a cold day yesterday and we stayed home and had a relaxed Christmas Day for most of it. We did go to visit my father-by-marriage and bring him his holiday gift. He will be turning 94 years old in a couple of weeks, so his wants are pretty minimal. He liked cookies so we brought several different kinds of edibles as well as a platter of ham so that he could have a sandwich or two. Will he remember that he has the ham? Probably not. But according to his phone call later in the day, he had already demolished a full package of cookies *sigh*.

I cooked yesterday (yes, it's very rare). I had a lovely rib roast in the oven and paired it with Parmesan noodles and green beans almondine. Very nummy and the leftover beef will give me dinner for the next 2-3 days. All good. And I have a turkey defrosting in my refrigerator for New Year's. We may not have had presents, but we ate well - LOL.

DH and I didn't buy gifts for each other this year for a variety of reasons. But his birthday is today so we'll go to Target tonight and I'll buy him a DVD. I want some socks and hand lotion so he'll get those for me. There we go - extravagant purchases, yes? But I did have a lovely Christmas. I had fun making and sending my cards throughout the world and loved those I received in return. My entryway is almost completely filled with cards from so many friends and relations. It's my happy place. I'm writing my Slashy Santa piece and it's coming together well although in unexpected ways (I love it when my characters take over the storyline) and I have a firm date for the publication of Dragonthology. I'll post more about that a bit later in the week. May your Boxing Day be happy.

Yep, Anne and I also have laughed off giving presents on set days. Rather, we give each other pressies every now and again through out the year. Much nicer and less forced that way.
