A Shire Breakfast and Wonderful Day

So I caved in to curiosity, drove several miles out of my way yesterday morning, and visited the closest Denny's restaurant to experience a Hobbit breakfast. I was very tempted by the Hobbit Hole breakfast (eggs fried into cheddar cheese bread, potatoes and bacon) but went for the Shire Sausage Skillet breakfast instead. I really liked it. A lot. It was really good! I would order one again without hesitation. Here's what it looked like (quick phone snap).

I had already put pepper on my eggs before remembering
to snap a quick photo to share. The skillet has a large
link of sausage, two eggs, red potatoes and veggies
with cheese. Good stuff!

Getting home after laundry was started I began working on my Solstice cards. The image I really wanted just wasn't working out, so I ended up with a second image. I set up my computerized cutter (which doesn't cut very well so I use the images with gel pens instead) and began designing and printing. I printed the front covers of 24 cards yesterday and can do an additional 20 if needed on a slightly different card stock. Now I need to design the interior and compose the interior text. I know where I'm going with the cards this year, though, so things are coming together. No time to waste...I still have a lot of handwork to do on them before they can hit the mail.

I love my computerized cutter, but the cutting
blade design is a serious problem. If they would get
those fixed, I'd be their friend for life because it
is an amazing and fun toy.

My computer has been acting like a pain - slow and grinding. I desperately need a new one. I'm not really sure how I'll be able to pay for it, but I'll figure it out. And I need to spend some serious time with the Bead & Button catalog. I brought it home with me yesterday, but didn't even have time to crack the cover for a second/third look (of course I looked through it at the shop the day that it arrived). I know I'll have fun and see friends again, but I'm not more precise than that yet.

Pom seeds also look like such a treasure trove. I've
bought them before when I didn't have any idea of how
to eat them, just to try. This time it was easy though.
I followed the video I linked to below...

The day was topped off by a lovely long conversation with Aearwen about writing, friendships, and upcoming events and a beautiful salad with toasted nuts and pomegranate seeds heavily scattered over my lettuce. I love fresh poms and have a bowl of pom innards in my refrigerator to use over the next few days. Check out this wonderful video on how to open and clean a pomegranate. Oh, happy me!
