My focus for the week is clean-up. The house is a disaster, my craft supplies are scattered all over two different rooms - detrius from my last major project, and my computer room is pathetic! I can't stand the clutter anymore, so it's time to clean. Wednesday is my studio day and I think I'll spend the day cleaning. I can design some things mentally, but I can't do anything more until I have a clean slate again. I have no idea where I'm going to put things - I have boxes that need homes and too many books. No....wait....there is no such thing as too many books. But there is such a thing as space issues and I'm there. My husband has been calling me a horder. Although I do seem to collect books and craft materials, I think I have a long way to go before I qualify as a horder. I do have space issues for books and I need to make some room or space to organize my art books and technique books. Those are 90% of what I have no room for.
Some examples of components by Deb Lozier. They're pretty, aren't they?
I have cut out seven copper discs to play with torch-firing some enamel. I need to drop by the hardware store and pick up a tank of MAAP gas and then I can sift and fire and see what might happen. I know that Deb Lozier said plain propane wasn't hot enough for the enamel, but I need to try it out. We did work with MAAP gas in the workshop and it seemed to work OK, although the heat was lower than some other torch choices and therefore some colors were different. It's amazing how many factors exist in this type of art, so it will be fun to play for a while. I'll anneal and pickle the discs today and maybe get them dapped. Then I can play with glass tomorrow.
