Hot and Wet...The Weather!! The Weather!!

So summer is in full stride here, even though the season has just started.  Yesterday was around 90 degrees F and it finally started raining after midnight so our dewpoint is more tolerable.  But it's been miserable and the hottest months are still to come - the ones where the days are like being in a steam bath.  Being at the shop is rather nice on these days because I have air conditioning at the shop.  We want our customers to feel comfortable and spend time shopping with us.  But I don't have air at home and there have been times in the past when I almost had serious heat stroke.  I determined that if we had a major heat wave this coming season, I'd grab a hotel room for a day or two just for the A/C.  Usually our fan works just fine - it's sticky sleeping but the play of air is all that is needed.  For those rare times, however, it's good to have options.

This lovely dragon is by my friend, Thom Atkins.  I consider him
to be a master of the media of bead embroidery on fabric.  He has
visited my shop several times and always shows me his work in progress.
What an incredible talent!

Today is my studio day and I really need to apply myself and get as much completed on my BFAC project as possible.  I have most of the foreground complete and still need to work on the sky.  When I have that done, it only remains to be mounted and photographed to be complete.  But the deadline on this is firm - the end of July - and the clock is ticking.  That's why I started carrying it to the shop with me every day and giving up some of my computer time in the morning to bead instead.  I'm determined to complete this the way that my vision dictates.  And my visions of artwork never suggest - the visions are imperative and quite dictatorial in tone.  So I'll work like crazy to get as much done today as I can....focus....focus :-)  (Just envision me beading like a mad woman for six hours at least...)
