Super Bowl Sunday and Meditation - They Don't Really Mix Well, Do They?

Although I admire Patrick Mahomes as a talented quarterback, he plays for Kansas City - my Divisional rival for my beloved Denver Broncos. Therefore, as a rival, I can never support his team for victory. Therefore, it made my heart very happy to see Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers pull off a resounding victory last night in the Super Bowl. As I told various friends, "I don't have a horse in this race", but I'm quite happy with the outcome.

Ron Gronkowski and Tom Brady, (two old guys who
are "ancient" by football standards), pulled off an
impressive win yesterday - bringing the Superbowl
trophy to Tampa Bay. I was delighted to see Gronkowski
do well, after his year of retirement. Brady, who never
retired but just switched teams instead, was a joy to watch.

Sunday was a quiet day - I spent a lot of the day working with the laptop, giving my desktop computer a rest. I'm getting used to the new system, and although I haven't really played with some of the features yet (Adobe Photoshop Elements *cough, cough*), I'm getting better at working with the laptop. I did pair a set of my wireless earbuds with it yesterday, so was able to listen to my Spotify "Like" list - finally some good tunes! I also listened to the first day of a long set of daily meditations. I'm looking forward to working with the program and really seeing where it will take me.

I've always found meditation to be helpful in the
long run. DH doesn't understand it at all - it doesn't
work for his mind-set. That's too bad, because he
certainly could benefit from it too. But that's OK.
I'll do my thing without intruding on "his" space.

Did you ever do structured meditation techniques when you were younger? Or do you work with meditation today? I did TM (Transcendental Meditation) when I was in college and found it quite helpful. I've plunged back into structured meditation on and off throughout my life, and thought it might be a good time to revisit the techniques. It's probably never too late to improve, right? So I'm trying to work 15-20 minutes a day back into my early morning schedule. It's well worth a try.

There are lots of great quotations about meditation and
the benefits of the practice, but I found this lovely
picture to share with you instead.

On that note, I'm moving along with my morning. It's only -7F (-21.6C) right now, but that's still a serious improvement over the -13F  (-25C) we had yesterday. It's going to be a week of arctic chill, but I don't think we'll see any snow along with it, so it's actually a win. I can bundle up, and if I don't have to shovel in the cold temps, I'm a happy camper. Have an excellent Monday and please, stay safe, be kind and wear your mask. I'll be back tomorrow.
