Success, Superbowl and Super Cold - It's Just A Super Whatever All Around

We're heading into the deep freeze and will be there for more than a week. When I went to sleep, it was 6F (-14.4C) outside, and when I awakened, that had dropped to zero. Normally we would warm up during the day, but we're sub-zero now and will only climb to 1F (-17.2C) above zero, so not much of a climb. By 8:00 pm tonight, we'll be at -5F (-20.55C) and by this time tomorrow we'll be -12F (-24.44C). Yeah - really cold. I'm grateful that I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow, just sitting at home, eating and watching the Super Bowl in the evening. I'm not sure what I'll do during the day, but I'm sure it will be an indoor activity.

Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis is frozen now. It's usually
quite active, located in a residential area and park on the
other side of the Mississippi from where I live. It's a lovely
waterfall year-round, but this is quite stunning in its
own right.

Unfortunately, today is just the start of a week+ of frigid temps - single digits during the day, sub-zero overnights. We won't "warm up" into the teens and above zero overnight until after Valentine's Day, so poor Minion will have to be OK with being parked outdoors for days at the shop when I'm working. It's hard on batteries and cars in general when temps are this cruel, and I don't even want to think about people who have poor heat or no shelter. We'll lose people, animals and birds during this cold snap, no doubt.

I'm not sure who I want to win on Sunday - the old guard,
Tom Brady, or the new upstart, Patrick Mahomes. I just hope it
will be a good game - there have been some real duds in the
past. I also hope the commercials will be worth watching.
Sometimes they are also a disappointment. We'll see ....

Tomorrow is Super Bowl and I have ribs ready to marinate overnight and cook tomorrow. We have chips and salsa, and we have soup (I have a feeling soup for lunch will be the choice for both of us). The lower level of the house is relatively warm, all in all, we're lucky. It should be a good day to watch football (and commercials). Since I don't "have a horse in this race", I really don't care which team wins.

I finally conquered my second sweater sleeve successfully. I
actually got quite a lot completed on my first sweater
yesterday. I'm feeling quite pleased about that.

I finally managed to get the second sleeve knit. It turned out to not be a tension thing, but one tiny trick that my on-line instructor for fancy stitches recommended really did the trick. I got the sleeve done, joined one shoulder of the back to the front, and knitted the collar on both front and back. If I work on my knitting tomorrow, I'll set the sleeves into the armholes. I'm not sure I'll be energetic enough to set up the machine, but I'd rather enjoy getting the sleeve in so that I can concentrate on hand--stitching the side seams and finishing the project. I want to get started on the next sweater but have to finish this one first so that I can tweak the measurements, if necessary.

On that note, I'm going to start my day. I hope all of you have a glorious weekend. Please stay warm and safe, be kind, and wear your mask. I'll be back on Monday.
