Sadhguru, Animal "Farming" and Kvetching - My Mind Is All Over the Place Today

Thank you for all of the comments on yesterday's post about source and resource. I want to give credit where it is due - the theme for yesterday's post came from a question raised to Sadhguru on his "Save the Soil" initiative. It struck a chord in me, and it seems it also struck one for many of you.

I like Sadhguru. He's human - there are times he speaks
and I wonder why he said what he did. But the majority
of the time, I learn something from him, or I learn a
different way of thinking about a topic that I find
helpful. He's a fascinating man and I recommend his
books to you if you haven't read them already.

The idea of exploiting a resource bothers me in the same way that "farming" an animal does. I don't think it's possible to "farm" an animal. I'll stretch it to crops, but when I hear the term "pig farm" or "goat farm" or others similar in nature, it grates on my nerves. These are living beings with personalities, goals of their own, and lives to live. They feel fear and pain, they have feelings for one another - good or bad - and who are we to say they don't have goals - short-term though those goals may be.

Animals have feelings to - they bond to their young, they
have friends in their group, and some others they don't
like as much. They probably have goals but I'm sure
they're different goals than our own. They are
living creatures, not a "crop".

How a person can "farm" an animal, a fellow being on this earth, disturbs me a great deal. I'm not sure if the term "ranch" is any better, although the terms "farm" and "ranch" are actually not interchangeable. But in my mind, ranch equates with a large area of land, minimal fences, and herds of cattle scattered over it. Throw some horses into the equation and you've got my "ranch". Farm, on the other hand, equates with silos, clusters of buildings with several barns, animals in smaller stockades, and crops taking up the majority of the land. The farmer isn't planting and harvesting his pigs, yet he's "farming" them. It's confusing.

There's actually a "Pig Farmer of the Year" award. This is
the winner from 2019, Chris Hoffman from Pennsylvania.
Who knew there was such an award? Don't we choose the
oddest things to honor people for?

Today I have a 10:30 am appointment with my orthodontist to get my molds made and specific measurements taken. I burned my tongue yesterday, and have at least one place where my gums are sore, so I guess I'm stressed a bit, subconsciously. But this is a minimal appointment. The one in November, where they actually apply the bands and wires - that one will be worth some stress. This one ... I'm just being silly. In the longer picture, however, this is something I've wanted for a long time - more than 30 years - and it's starting to finally come true. So no real complaints here, just kvetching.

Every now and again I kvetch. Don't take it
personally, I need to keep my hand in. To
kvetch well requires periodic practice - LOL.

Have an excellent Wednesday. I'll have to squeeze in my grocery shopping between my swimming and my orthodontist, but my afternoon might be available to start photographing the next batch of crystals for Etsy. I can try, at any rate, between the laundry and making dinner. Otherwise, it'll be Friday's agenda. Enjoy your day and Slava Ukraine. I'll be back tomorrow.

It Was a Good Weekend and Thoughts About the Third Eye

We had a lovely, relaxed Sunday watching football and doing a bit of gardening late in the afternoon when the sunshine was making the yard golden and the trees ablaze in a glory of golden and red. DH had asked me to please wear a wig for most of the day, so I chose my long wig and wore it until I went to Chipotle after 5:00 pm to pick up dinner (which of course took more that 45 minutes, even though there were less than eight people in line ahead of me. Fast food? NOT).

Chipotle's Smoked Brisket in a burrito bowl (or a salad,
as I usually have it) is a winner for both DH and I. We
love it. It's a bit more money, but it's very tasty. I highly
recommend it. Waiting in line to actually get it, however,
in today's job shortage world? Not so much!

I wanted to share something with all of you that I forgot to share last week. When I saw the allergist, he noticed my tattoo, but make a rather unusual observation - one I had not heard  before but loved. He stated that he loved the exact positioning of the Eye of Ra inside the rising sun atop my head. He said the Eye of Ra is often correlated with the pineal gland, the gland that is responsible for discerning light and dark and the gland that is sometimes referred to as the Third Eye.

The Eye of Horus and the shape of the pineal gland in
the base of the skull have remarkable similarities.
If the Eye of Horus is based upon the pineal gland, then
it pushes knowledge of the brain back into far
prehistory. Of course, the Third Eye has been acknowledged
in "mystical" and in Eastern societies, religions and
basic beliefs for centuries. Maybe it's worth a thought?

In the Chakras, the Third Eye is a center of wisdom and higher consciousness and is associated with the color of purple. Often people will work with amethyst crystals to help awaken the third eye. After all, we could all use a bit of wisdom, consciousness and higher awareness, as well as intuition and inner vision.

It's really easy to confuse the 6th Chakra and
the 7th Chakra when working with color. The
Sixth, the Third Eye, is Amethyst. The
Seventh, the Crown, is Violet. They are close
in hue, but they work in very different ways.

He said that if you split the brain exactly in half, the pineal gland would be at the base of the brain and the appearance is often likened to the image of the Eye of Horus. I found that fascinating, so had to look it up (of course). Looking at various photographs and depictions, I can understand where the correlation can be made. There is indeed a remarkable similarity to the Eye of Horus and the pineal gland.

Third Eye illustrations are everywhere. Start by looking
at the back of the $1 bill. Yes ... that pyramid has the
all-seeing eye - the third eye. Are you interested in
trying to activate your third eye? Sadhguru has advice
on two ways to open the third eye in a you-tube
video here. It's less than 10 minutes, so might be worth
your while watching. I'll put a separate link in just
to make sure it comes through.

I thought that was interesting and wanted to share with all of you. Since I forgot to share last week, my crazy Monday ended up being the "chosen" day - LOL. Have an excellent day, I'm off to the pool to see if I can improve my distance at all. I might also try a set of nose plugs for my turns, since  getting water up my nose is one of my major negatives about twist turns. Anyway, enough rambling. I'll be back tomorrow.

Crazy Schedules, Wonderful Books and Planning - A Typical Day

Yesterday's crazy schedule actually worked out. I didn't shop at the co-op, but I actually didn't need most of the groceries I needed from there until Friday, so I've pushed the co-op off a couple of days. I was in plenty of time for my 9:00 am quarterly phone call with my financial advisor, and had time to set up and watch Sadhguru's talk at 10:00, along with more than 3500 other people. I've participated in many of these Zoom presentations over the past few months, but this talk brought in more listeners than any other I've ever been in.

I purchased "Karma" yesterday and I'm
looking forward to reading it. Although
he has several other books, the only other
one I'm really interested in is "Death".

According to Vishin, the CEO of MindValley, Sadhguru's class will become available within a couple of months. That seemed to take Sudhguru a bit by surprise, which I found amusing. I'm inclined to side with the motorcycle-riding guru on this one, and whenever the class actually does become available, I'm definitely going to subscribe to it. Sadhguru was fascinating to listen to as he tackled the various topics introduced by Vishin and by the audience. I did buy his newest book, "Karma", in e-book version. I'll load that up on my non-fiction reader and probably start working through it today. It's a top-seller with a huge number of 5-star reviews, so I want to see what the fuss is all about (in addition to wanting to read it just because of the subject matter). I've got to love any older, eccentric gentleman who talks about karma and rides a Ducati motorcycle.

The other book of his I'm interested in
reading is this one. I have a 20% off
coupon that expires at the end of the
month. I'll probably use that and save
a little bit. It should be an interesting
read.

In fact, yesterday's tight schedule managed to resolve itself into a rather nicely-paced day, which was quite a surprise. I'm pleased, though, I was not looking forward to a push and tug of a day. Aearwen and I had a great chat to finish off the day, and as always, we connected on many levels. She's most definitely a Sister From a Different Mother and I'm so happy to have found her many years ago.

Getting to and from my bank often feels like
I'm taking a "Great Circle Route". Since my local
branch closed several years ago, it's a good long
drive to our closest location.

Were you taught that the shortest distance
between two points is a straight line? That
doesn't take into account the Great Circle
Routes, which are actually shorter than
the straight line, as shown above.

Today's schedule is a bit hectic to start out, but then will settle down. I need to get to the shop, drop off my stuff, and head right back out to the bank. I probably should have asked DH to bring the deposit home with him, but he more than likely would have forgotten anyway. On that rather boring note, I'm totally out of here. I have things to do, people to see, and more things to do - LOL. Have a totally EXCELLENT and MAGNIFICENT day and please, be kind and stay safe. I'll be back tomorrow.
