DH Needs to Get His Butt Into Gear - BAH!

I hope all of you had a lovely Monday, and here we are, ready to jump into Tuesday. Of course, for me, that means the first of my three swimming days, so time is tighter this morning and words are at a premium. It's forcing me to whip my dreams into submission, push them behind me, and start a brave new day.

It's a brave new day. Not a brand new one, a brave new one -
because it requires strength, perseverance and a bit of
stubborn to get through days sometimes. I have errands
first thing today so won't get to holiday cards today.
That doesn't make me happy, but there's little I can
do about it.

Yesterday, a holiday in the USA, was rather disappointing for sales. DH was complaining that he thought we'd be busier, I mumbled under my breath "That's why we should have been out of business two years ago", and just let it ride. *sigh* He sat in the back all day, and after he was finished with the weekly finance books, he did virtually nothing all day. Whoopie! That's SUCH a help getting us closed in eight months. GRRRR

It really pisses me off when he's complaining about how he
doesn't know how he'll get everything done on time to be
out of here by June 30th, and he just sits in the back at
his desk and plays games on his phone or does his
crossword puzzle. GRRRRR.

Still, at least he wasn't in a temper for a change. So I can be grateful for smaller things. He seems to be in a temper far more than not lately, and he's a stubborn and very grumpy old dwarfie, so his tempers come, they move into the neighborhood setting up a household, and it takes a lot to move them away from the cul-de-sac when needed.

Winter weight gain is real, and the hard thing is
keeping it under control. I'm determined. I'm up
three pounds from before the State Fair, but
that's pretty minimal and I am using a new
digital scale. It didn't help not having a functional
digital scale for a bit more than a week.

I'm fighting to keep my "winter weight" off. I'm sure most of you in shifting climates are familiar with winter weight. The body feels the change in temperature and screams "Oh no. It's going to be cold. You won't be able to eat food that you gather any more, so we have to hold onto weight because winter is the season for starvation". Well, that might well have been true generations ago, but rarely follows through in modern times. Food is not hard to gather, and even though the temperatures drop, we have appropriate clothing and heat in our cars and homes to offset the cold. "Bah!" I say "Bah!" to stupid body genetics at this season. I don't need to pack on the fat, I would like to stay lean. So it's a bit of a fight at this time of the year - the changing time from Summer to Fall to Winter.

I'm not going to let winter weight come in and stay
for the season. Nope ... nope! NOT going to
happen.

Have an excellent Tuesday, I'm off to the pool. As always, enjoy your day and I certainly plan to be here tomorrow. Dreamwidth is acting up, and Live Journal is only allowing me to use their new system, so it's anyone's guess how this will appear on your feeds. Slava Ukraini.

Raining On Your Friday Parade - It's A Temporary Mood

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. It was quite anti-climactic. I gave two cards, I got two cards. I opened mine, he didn't open his. He bought sushi, I ate mine, minus the rice. Generally speaking, it was a waste of time and effort in most respects, although I did love my cards, and he tried to choose sushi that I could eat. Still, it was glacial, and uncomfortable, and generally forgettable. Not really a good celebration at all.

Yesterday started out with a spectacular
sunrise, but ended with a disappointing
evening together. It could have been really
good, but attitudes weren't really in tune.

I'm trying to get in to see my dermatologist next week. She's not in the office this week, so I'm out of luck there, but I'm hopeful of getting enveloped in to see her on Wednesday or Friday next week. My skin isn't healing, so I need some outside consultation and information. Over the years I've worked my way up from Doctor to Practitioner, and then, with my alopecia, to the Department Head. That's who I see now - the Head Honcho. And I really like her. She's smart, forthright, and candid. Those are qualities I look for in my physicians. Hopefully I'll have some answers, or at least a course of action, by the end of next week.

I really like my Dermatologist. She's highly intelligent,
listens really well, and has excellent ideas for things
to try with my crazy skin. I'm hoping she'll have some
good ideas this time too, and that she can squeeze
me in to her tight schedule. I have an appointment to
see her in November, but this should be looked at
a bit sooner than that.

Today is a day off, and I need it. I'm exhausted, I'm burnt out, and I really need to kick back a bit and try to relax. I might go through one or two of the boxes that got totally soaked when we had our basement flooded a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure 90% of the stuff is trash now, so it might not take long to go through and clear things out a bit. That would be a good goal for the day.

Do you remember when I had that cracked toilet tank the Sunday
before Sharon arrived? I called my plumber, Jack, immediately
in the morning and he had a new toilet installed by mid-
afternoon for us. (He's marvelous!) We had to pull everything
out of our storage space because it all had been soaked
through by the leaking water. I think I should start going
through those boxes. Most of them are trash (except for the
plastic storage boxes). I can at least start to get that craft
room back into usable condition again.

So, the next new oven has been ordered, the dermatologist has been contacted, the anniversary has passed, and life seems to be back to "normal" i.e., stumbling and a bit rocky. Goody. I think I'll plug in some good music for the day, go through a box or two to make me feel as if I've accomplished something, and maybe sit outside for a while this afternoon if the weather clears up. Have an excellent Friday and I'll be back tomorrow - probably with a much more positive attitude once again. Sorry for raining on your Friday parade.

Another Grey Day in the Frozen Northlands

Hopefully the truck will be fixed today. Unfortunately, they're not open any late hours, so I'll have to take time away from the shop, leaving Chickie in charge, while I drive home, pick up DH, get and pay for the truck, and then head back to the shop. With luck we won't get busy while I'm gone, but DH needs the truck tomorrow, so if it is repaired, that will make things much simpler.

We want Shadow Beast to look as lovely as it had before
DH backed into Minion. I'm not sure if they'll be replacing
the entire bumper or just the one side, but the insurance is
paying for most of it. We have to pay the deductible, but
that's all. Not dirt cheap, but worth it.

Yesterday was a day of packages arriving at the shop for me. I had a Priority Mail package arrive with the images I'm probably going to use for my 2021 Holiday Card (yes, sometimes I start early - unlike this year LOL). I had a UPS package for the shop. Later in the day I had something in the regular mail from a knitting supplier, and finally, toward the end of the day, my new modem arrived via Amazon delivery. The box is standing on the floor of the computer room behind me now, waiting for Wednesday's installation.

Because we run four different ethernet
cables into our cable modem routers,
most of what I was looking at on-line
wouldn't work. This one, however, has
adequate plug-ins and is almost identical
to the router that is dying. Now to get
the darned thing installed ...

It was rather bizarre having so many packages all arriving on the same day, and in so many different ways. I guess we're become a nation of mail order and restaurant deliveries. Maybe I should have invested in UPS or FedEx or DoorDash or Uber. LOL

It's another grey day in January here in the
Frozen Northlands. For someone who needs
color desperately, this is the WRONG time
of the year for me. I still have several months
of grey ahead of me and I'm already tired of
this color palette.

But, I'm cold, a bit tired, and I'm unusually uninspired for my daily blog today, so it's a "meh" day and another grey day in the neighborhood. I'm going to call this done for the day, plug in some pictures that might cheer me up, and make a cup of tea. I think the tea will set everything back into place again. Have a wonderful day - be kind, stay safe and please wear your mask.
