Baseless Panic, Ordering Products, and Oatmeal - A Bit Mundane, But That's OK

Yesterday's "panic" about the two charges on my Discover card proved baseless. After further investigation and a phone call, I had actually ordered the two items. I assured the person on the other end that I would approve the transactions, but also made sure that it wasn't a repeating order of any kind - just a one-time thing. Sometimes things can be messed up, and I didn't want to run that risk. Fortunately, all is now well and I can go back to other things.

I really love my Discover card. I have other cards too, but
over the years, Discover has been the one I turn to for personal
expenses and purchases. I have it set up to notify me via
text message any time it's used, which is a very handy
feature. Their customer service people are outstanding
also.

My usual evening schedule is to hit the computer after dinner for 30-45 minutes. This allows me to clear out any emails collected during the day and gives me a clean slate for the next morning's accumulation. That didn't happen last night. DH wanted me to re-order him some checks, and also order two pairs of glasses for him - a new prescription for his standard pair, and a new bifocal pair. He uses Zenni for these - his really liked his last new pair. Getting the first one was easy - he wanted a duplicate of his last order, but with the updated prescription. But getting him to choose a frame for his bifocals was a lengthy wait while he figured out which specific Aviator-style he wanted and the color. *sigh* Still, it was finally accomplished and the order was transmitted to Zenni. He should have everything by the end of the month.

DH started using Zenni for his glasses after Chickie
recommended them. I have to admit, they're very
affordable. The glasses I wear are custom art frames,
so I send my glasses out East to get them relensed
instead-

He was surfing Amazon and "talking" to me (which actually means talking, but not to me, more above me ... but expecting me to listen and comment when needed). I, on the other hand, just wanted to watch my "Holiday Baking" competition for the week, so my responses were pretty non-commital.

I love watching the "Holiday Baking Championship" on
my Monday nights. I don't cook or bake, but I love watching
the contestants attempt to make things, and the various
problems they run into along the way. It's great fun.

Notice, not once in the listing above was taking care of the emails. That's because it never happened. So, I awakened very early this morning, and instead of going back to bed for the hour remaining before my alarm went off, I trundled downstairs, hit the treadmill and the shower, and settled down to the emails today. It's been a bit more than an hour now, and the emails are finally completely read, answered or deleted. It's time for my blog. Yippee!

This is quite a bit fancier than my daily oatmeal and tea, but
it looks pretty nice. I usually cover my oatmeal with fresh
blueberries, I use a small bit of sugar instead of the honey,
and my mug of tea is larger. But, this still looks quite inviting.

Thanks go out to Sam for a lovely holiday card. And no ... I don't think that you're jinxing 2021. I don't think you (or anyone, for that matter) has that power. You sent a fun, cheerful and uplifting card and I thank you for sending it to me. I love it! On that note, I'm plugging in photos and making myself my oatmeal and hot tea. I'm freezing right now, and hot tea sounds wonderful. Be kind, stay safe, and I'll return tomorrow.
