I Hate Working on Sundays - It Makes For a Long Week

I'm trying to motivate today, which is much easier said than done. Yesterday was the first of three Sundays where we are open at the shop from noon until 4:00 pm. It means I'm working 6-day weeks from now until Christmas Eve, and that just drags me down. It's not like I'm actually busy - we didn't have a single customer in yesterday (not surprising, we open for customer convenience, not because we actually do a lot of business). I looked through knitting patterns on my laptop and DH watched football, and we got out of there ASAP at 4 pm to return home for the remainder of the day.

The Ott light I purchased looks great and I'm
really looking forward to working with that
additional light. My eyes are getting older
and I need that extra light.

I did assemble my $4 lamp (which, since I used a $36 credit as part of the payment, DH insists upon calling my $36 lamp). It's now ready and waiting to be plugged in for my Wednesday knitting time. I know exactly what I'm working on for Wednesday, and I'll get going on that ASAP.

I love my Sizzix Big Kick machine. It was the only machine
I used for this year's holiday cards. All of those cut-out
stars (88 of them alone for the front cover) were punched
out by using this machine. I was threatened by DH who
was finding little stars on his desk for days after I was
working on the front piece. The interior was a bit less
intensive.

All of my holiday cards are in the mail, and some have already been received. That makes me very happy, because the whole purpose of making them is to have them opened and enjoyed by others. They were very bare-bones this year - no embossing, very little glitz, and using materials that I already owned - no purchasing new stamps or die cut frames on the run, or new envelopes ... or anything. It was fun to re-purpose materials for this year's cards and use what I already had. I've already brought some of my materials back from the shop, but still have some equipment that has to be put away at home again. I'll probably bring that home on Tuesday night and put it all away on Wednesday.

The foils were the remnants of heat transfer foils I
had from decades ago when I was doing a lot of
t-shirt and sweatshirt painting and embellishment.
It was a pleasure to use something I hadn't used
forever and re-purpose it into a new project.

I had two charges come through on my Discover card last night - both close to $100, both from places/firms I haven't done business with. I contacted Discover immediately, and I've printed out the information today. I'll be doing some more phone calls, etc today to track down these firms and see what/why they charged my account. I think they are fraudulent, but have to do some work on my end before Discover can get involved on their end. Discover always sends me a text message for every transaction on my card. It's how I knew immediately that something was wrong. I do love my Discover card.

On that note, I'm out of here. I hope you have an excellent Monday, be kind, stay safe, and please wear your mask. I'll be back tomorrow.
