Numbers and Eyeglasses

Yesterday and today I'm head-deep in financial records, numbers, and forms. Two additional applications for financial assistance are due in two days, and DH and I worked on details yesterday, fine-tuning what we would submit. It's been a challenge - gathering together the variety of reports and numbers for the applications. And we're totally unsure if it will mean anything at all, because once again it is a computer-generated lottery for the funds. Still, if we don't try at all, we won't have a chance.

Filling out the various applications for grants
for the business is rather like playing a slot
machine at a casino. You can feed it the
quarters (give it the correct documents),
but getting a winning row is totally up to
chance.

I finally received my trifocals delivered late last week. It's lovely to have my main vision actually be in focus once again. My main eye prescription - the one we all use for driving and anything farther away than a few feet, was the prescription that had changed - a lot. My midrange computer vision was almost unchanged, and my close-up hadn't changed at all. But I seriously needed that stronger distance lens, and I'm so happy to finally have my glasses back.

My vision wasn't this bad - I can see fairly well even without my
glasses. But I like clarity and doing repairs and detail work
requires glasses these days. I have special binocular lenses
similar to what your dentist uses for super fine detail work
but for everyday vision, I rely on my eyeglasses. I wanted one
set where I didn't need to change glasses for different
views. I don't mine wearing my computer glasses, but don't
want to shift back and forth if I'm just looking something
up on screen.

I had sent the frames off to LensesRX in early March, then the pandemic hit the US and everything shut down, especially in their area (they are located in Staten Island, NY). Although they were considered essential, and didn't actually close, the titanium custom frames I sent to them broke, and the place where they would send the frames for repair was closed. I had to wait for more than three months before I finally got my new glasses. It was worth the wait, though. Now to get another pair sent off to them.

I like unusual frames. I love these - they're NOT mine, they are
vintage. But if I had the chance to try them on and I liked how
they looked on my head, I'd buy these in a flash.

I like unique eyeglasses - unusual frames, custom if I can get them. I've always considered eyeglasses to be jewelry for the face, and glasses are one of the first things that people notice when they're looking at you. (Of course, now they tend to notice my bald beauty first (LOL), but then yes - the eyeglasses definitely come into play.) My unique eyeglasses are a vanity,. but I don't think it's out of place. Now to find that other set of frames and send them off. I don't recall exactly where they are, so it might be a bit of a hunt. I'll do that AFTER I get the applications for grants sent off. LOL Have a wonderful Tuesday and I'll be back tomorrow.
