Health and Well Being

Chickie is heading back to the Mayo Clinic today for a bone marrow test *ouch*. She had one of these before in 2004 or so, so she's done this rodeo, but it's not a pleasant procedure and she'll be feeling sore for a few days while she heals. She's also banned from the pool for a few days - doctor's orders. The doctors are hoping this will give them more clues into what's affecting her health this time. She's tried just about everything else over the past year or two. She can't just go to any doctor because she has a chronic, extremely rare, disease. Doctors who know and understand her disease are only at Mayo or Johns Hopkins, but Mayo is at least close - only an hour-and-a-half away from home.

The Mayo Clinic has come a long way from its' start as a small
clinic run by two brothers. It's considered one of the top
ten medical centers in the USA, so it's nice to have it
so close to where we live.

I don't think I know anyone who is in perfect health - I'm not sure if that's possible in this day and age. My health is pretty good, but I have my sun sensitivity skin issues and I'm still overweight by a few pounds - not a lot, but enough to make me grit my teeth and try to lose those 4-6 pounds I gained over the past four months. My own major health issue was more than fifteen years ago and I came very close to dying, so I'm grateful every day that my issues are pretty minimal now.

I'm not sure if anyone can claim perfect health, but it's something
that most of us are trying to get and maintain. I don't think
the human species is made to have perfect health. Maybe
the Universe is really a doctor in disguise and we're made
fallible to keep the Universe busy and interested.

Several years ago DH had that blood pressure scare of super-high blood pressure. He was one small step away from a major heart attack. He's been really good - taking his medications regularly and watching his diet (except for the bars he makes for his evening snacks - those AREN'T diet food, but they sure are good). He's doing really well and I hope to growl at and with him for many years still to come.

It would be really nice to practice yoga on the
shore of a beautiful lake with a swan swimming
nearby. Of course, I would need to do yoga,
have a lake with a dock like this, and have
a swan instead of a Canadian goose or a duck
in that lake. Unlikely!

Health is a rather crazy thing, though. When it breaks down, it's like being hit by a truck. You are thrown aside and have to crawl back to the highway, then piece yourself together and start the journey once again, but with new rules and a different vehicle. It can be tremendously difficult to make your way back from any major medical issues. I hope none of you ever have to deal with something like that - it's without doubt one of the most difficult things to do in your life.

It never hurts to do the recipe here. Will it give you perfect
health? It can't hurt. The bottom one, release emotional
toxicity, might be the hardest one in today's world.

So today I wish all of you the best of health. We all need it. Have a wonderful Friday. Tomorrow is the Royal Wedding, and I'm not sure if I'll go swim, or just watch the wedding instead. Decisions, decisions ...
