Goals and Successes

I purchased a book yesterday. Those who know me well will not find that unusual - I am an admitted bibliophile and own 1000's of books. But what caught me was the poem whose first line is the title of the book. I share it with you here as good words to add to my personal storyboard and perhaps to add to yours as well. (I'll let you know if the book is as good as the poem later after I've had a chance to read it.)

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

-Dawna Markova

And, yesterday was the final day for Le Tour de France. Mark Cavendish won the stage decisively - the man just flies on his bike! Whenever I think of Le Tour, I also remember the projects that I have worked on while watching it. Several years ago I was working on one of my etched and enameled Bead Artist Trading Cards. Early in my TDF addiction, I worked a wirework bracelet named "Le Peloton" in honor of Le Tour. Two years ago I was working on the wooden form for my Hobby Horse Dreams. This year I have two quick pieces in the works that have to be in the mail on Wednesday. I may have to take a special trip to the airport post office Wednesday night after work to get it out Express Mail. Nothing like living through a deadline - LOL.
