A Photo Blog Today - Jewelry, Autumn Leaves and Birds, Birds, Birds

I have a really busy day today and need to be at the shop as early as possible, so today I'm doing a photo blog. I haven't done one of those for a while, and wanted to share a bit of the past few weeks with all of you. So ... here we go.

I attended one of my favorite seasonal craft fairs yesterday. It usually goes on for ten days, and it's extremely popular. I picked up three items this year - unusual for me - I usually look and then leave.

I bought this set of basswood earrings - the pattern
is burned into the wood (both sides), then it's hand
painted and lacquer sealed. Beautifully made, very
light weight, and only $40. I couldn't say no.

After wandering everything, I kept coming back to this
simple, but lovely pendant. It's Fibonnaci's Swirl in
gold-filled over sterling silver. Simply elegant. We switched
the chain to a 16" chain, and SOLD. I'm quite pleased.

The third (and final) thing I bought was this gold-wrapped
stone with pearl accent piece. I know how to do wire
wrapping, and have made several pieces over the years,
but it's not my favorite art style. This was elegant,
not too large, and beautifully conceived and balanced.
Another one that went home with me. This year's craft
show was expensive for me - LOL.

I had promised a photo, so here you go. This is
me for Halloween in my "Morticia Addams" gown
with my long red wig. I have a sterling silver
spider pin at my shoulder, numerous pendants,
and I have a smaller spider crawling up the other
side of the gown, but it's hidden in this photo.

I was chided for not sharing Autumn colors, so here is a shot
of my maple tree in the backyard. This big guy
shelters our seating area and houses the hummingbird feeder
during the summer. It's always gloriously colorful in the Fall.

We have a lot of trees in our yard, and here are
some of the colorful leaves that have fallen onto
the grass. This is October  25th, and the leaves
have all browned out by now. There are still
spots of color here and there, but after the
winds we'll get over the weekend, it's pretty much
going to be over.

The upper back yard is also filled with leaves.
Time to pull out the rake and take care of it. This
also is from October 25th, and the trees are much
more bare now. We hold off for as long as possible
to get as many leaves down as we can. We don't
want to have to rake twice - it's a HELL of a big job.

Finally, two photos of the migrations. Here, on October 20th
in the parking lot of my grocery store, the street separating it
from a smaller group of stores, and the bank leading to that
second store grouping, were a gaggle of geese. Canadian
geese, to be precise. They were getting together, ready to leave
for the season. Some of them will stay for the winter, but
others will fly away. It's the great migration. I think there were
at least 30 birds in this group, and they were making traffic
difficult for the cars trying to get past.

My final photo is this conclave of Wild Turkeys. I'm used to
small groups of this bird, but I'd never seen them together
in a large group like this before. This was in front of a church,
only a mile or two from the Canadian geese from above, and on
the same day. I counted at least 20 turkeys in this group. They
usually do leave for the winter, although I've never really seen
them fly away. Maybe they teleport?

So that's it for today. Just photos to bring me back up to date and keep me on track to get to the shop no later than 7:00 am. It's going to be a very busy day today, and I need to get as much done before DH gets in as possible. Once he's through the door, he'll be monopolizing the computer. For those of you who have served, or who have relatives who have or are serving in the military, have a blessed Veteran's Day. Have an excellent weekend and I'll be back on Monday.
