Winter Is Coming - FIRST Call-Out for Cards

It's cold out. It might be time to drag the winter coat (a full-length purple parka) out of the closet and put the leather jacket away until Spring. *sigh* Nothing to do about it though. I'll wear the leather into the 40's, but it's in the low 30's right now - skirting the border with freezing. Time to give in to seasonal necessities.

I have this coat from Land's End. I
purchased it in 2016 (had to go
through a LOT of photos to find it).
I love it. It's good to a very low sub-zero
temperature, I usually don't bother with
the hood, but it's detachable, and when
combined with GOOD gloves (because
my hands are ALWAYS cold) and a
knit hat plus a fake fur one, I'm pretty
cozy for a Minnesota Winter. Time to
bring it out of the closet, though. we're
getting too cold for my favorite
leather bomber jacket.

On the positive side, I upped my treadmill distance an additional 1/4 mile this morning. I'm hoping I can make that stick so that I'll be one step farther along in distance. I'm not much of a runner (actually, I don't run, I fast-walk - my doctor does NOT recommend impact sports/activities for my more fragile bones). To get up to the point where I could pass two miles and go a bit farther is an accomplishment. I'll see if I can keep it up tomorrow.

I have to get groceries and pick up my dry cleaning. I'm
hoping that will be the extent of my errands today because
I've got my afternoon reserved for some serious computer
work for Etsy.

Today is the usual - grocery shopping and errands (a quick stop by Target). I'll need to build in a quick trip to my dry cleaners to pick up the final gown of my mother's. I'll have all of them totally cleaned and mended then, and can decide which one(s) I want to sell and if I want to keep any of them. They're marvelous dresses - meticulously made, lots of hand-sewing, and the garment restoration people were totally over the moon as each one came in to them. This last gown, a full-length black opera gown, needed more restoration than any of the others I've had done over the past year. It experienced mold in the storage chest, so the underskirt had to be completely replaced. It should be amazing now.

This little thing which I just ordered
from Amazon is a portable, foldible,
clothes rack which will be 53" high and
24 inches long. I need to pull my mom's
garments out of the coat closet - they're
too cramped there. I also ordered some
garment bags for them. I'll need to take
photos of the gowns, and get them
listed on Etsy as vintage one-of-a-kind
garments. I need to get them sold, now
that they've been restored.

I got Stage 2-A finished on my Holiday Cards yesterday, so I think it's probably time for my annual CALL OUT FOR CARDS! This is how it works. I make a total of 50 cards, save one for my records and send the rest out all over the world. A lot of them are already spoken for - I have eight nieces and nephews and various good friends and "relatives" who claim those. BUT, there are always extra cards - sometimes a lot, sometimes a few less, to send to friends from my DW and LJ lists.

I don't buy my cards for Winter Solstice,
I hand-make them. I've been doing this
for more than 10 years now, and I love
doing it. I have some online friends who
save every year's cards. I'm honored
to be friends with so many fabulous
people and a bit humbled that they save
my artwork year after year.

To get a card, message me ASAP on LJ or DW or in a private email to get onto the list. I need your real name (I'm NOT mailing a card to Sheena of the Jungle, thank you very much!) and I need your real address. I don't care if it's in the US, Peru, England, Croatia, India or South Africa, it needs to be your address. If you've gotten a card from me in the past, PLEASE still let me know you would like one and if your address has changed. Your personal information goes no farther than my printer for the envelope. My personal deadline is getting them into the mail by Solstice. You may, or may not, have the card in your hands by the Holidays, but they are my gift to my on-line friends every year.

So, get onto your computer and send me a message. I'd love to add you to my list, and as always, it's FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Now, I'm off to start a very busy day. I hope all of you have a wonderful Friday and I'll be back tomorrow.
