Time To Set Up the Sweater - Finally!

Yesterday, between a couple of computer lectures, I took the sleeves off my sweater and remounted and restitched them on correctly. I actually did sleeve one, then sleeve two, then realized I had done sleeve 1 incorrectly (yet again), and took it apart yet again, changing and redoing it. Now the sweater has all of its components correctly stitched together and the only thing remaining is sewing up the sides. I thought about taking it to work with me, but I know I have a ton of work to do at the shop today, so I'll leave it home until Monday. I might get some sewing done on Sunday, if I'm lucky.

It was crazy how hard it was to sew the
sleeves to the body in a way that I was happy
with the seam. I've got it nailed now, though,
and I'm quite pleased.

That means I can start a new project on Wednesday. I'm thinking about something small to try out a few techniques, but I also might try some different stitchwork. Practice makes perfect, and there are some of the hand-manipulated things I've been learning that I could certainly use more practice on. Maybe a quick scarf with some ribbing - one of the things I find very difficult to do well.

Ribbing is one of those stitches that's super easy to
do with hand knitting, and quite a bit more complex
on the machine. High-end machine (WAY more money
than I was willing to spend) have ribbers - a totally
separate attachment that allows for ribbing to be done
with ease. The only way that I can do it is by taking
apart the stitch and re-latching it up from bottom back
to the top. I have this problem with dropped stitches
that's quite a problem, so I need lots of practice.

I'm deeply in the middle of my personal growth program and loving it. It's been more than a week of daily lectures and lessons and it's been a wonderful experience. I'm starting a nutrition and food course on Monday. It's a 13-week course that probably will change my eating habits dramatically, and I don't think that's a bad thing at all. I've never really known or understood much about nutrition, and I think it's probably rather important to a healthy lifestyle, so I'm forging ahead. I took the blender out of the cupboard above the refrigerator yesterday and washed it completely. I'm quite sure I see some smoothies in my future, so just as well to have it ready to go.

The first two weeks of the program deal exclusively
with nutrition and food information. As I understand
it, we don't dive directly in a lot of food changes
until week three. I'm linking up with people from
around the world in my group - some from my own
state, bur also from the UK, France, India and
Malaysia. This could be a lot of fun and have a
lot of benefits.

I still have a lot to do this morning before hitting the road to work, so I'll sign off here. Have an excellent weekend and I'll be back on Monday. Please, also, be kind, stay safe and wear your mask.
