Holiday Cards Will Be Mailed Tonight

I need to pick up a bit more postage from the Post Office this morning, then, after application, the holiday cards will be in the mail tonight. It's been a fun ride for this year's cards. I started really late, and since we're in the middle of a pandemic, I wanted to keep things simple, almost plain. No embossing, no glitter, just hope in the midst of broken dreams. I'm quite pleased that my original concept worked, and that the only thing I purchased was the cardstock paper for the cards. Everything else used I already owned.

Stay at home orders went into effect in my state on
March 28th and extended until May 18th. For everyone,
life changed dramatically, and it still hasn't returned
to "normal" and probably never will. This year's cards
acknowledge our year of broken dreams by using
recycled materials - items I had on hand, and minimal
embellishments - but I'm quite pleased with how they
turned out.

I'm already looking forward to Wednesday when I can make the third hat I'm giving for holiday gifts, and start the next project I have in mind. I've had requests to show a photo of the hats I've been making, but the people I'm making them for read my blog, so I'll hold off on photos until after the holidays. That way they won't see their holiday gifts ahead of time.

The hats I've been making are in this style, but without
the pom pom (I've never been a fan of pom poms) and
just a bit longer and narrower for the people I had in
mind. I have one more hat to make before I can dive
into other things to knit.

I am very happy with them, though. Every day I'm studying more video on how to use this equipment and how to make the things I want to make. My new light will make that even easier to accomplish. This particular rabbit hole is furnished with warm blankets, hot cups of tea and good music. It's a very cozy rabbit hole.

There was always something so cozy about Badger's
house in "Wind in the Willows". I always wanted
to visit that old grumpy dear, spend some time over
a cuppa and relax in front of a small fire in his home
at the roots of the big tree.

So, I'll be in line at the Post Office shortly after they open today, purchasing my overseas stamps as well as extra 20-cent stamps for my US cards. The cards may be low-key, but they're heavy, coming in at just over an ounce (requiring an additional stamp for each one). As always, I'm delighted to have shared this journey with all of you and wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season. With luck and good timing, I'll be packing and shipping holiday gifts within 10 days or so. (With luck ... that doesn't always happen, but I live in hope.) Have an excellent Friday, be kind, stay safe, wear your mask and I'll be back tomorrow.
