Stay-at-Home Day 13

I'm super late today, not because I slept in or any other wonderful thing, but because I got caught up in the latest loan/grant forms and wasn't able to pick up the final component I needed until after 2:00 pm. But, I have it now, so I submitted the final grant application and they will email me within 3-4 days with a secure link for additional supplementary information. What a joy! Ugh!

The St Paul Bridge Fund is a one-time $7500 grant to eligible small
businesses and individuals in the City limits. The applications will
be put into a random drawing and those selected will get the funds
with no repayment necessary. Those not selected in the drawing
will be held-over for a second appropriation of funding. There's a
bunch of supporting documentation required, but we've been a
small business in the City since the 1980's, so no problems there.
Hopefully we'll get chosen in the first drawing.

As I mentioned earlier in the week, DH and I had been binge-watching "Brokenwood Mysteries" on a free temporary access to ACORN TV. Unfortunately, as we found out a short time ago, our free access has now expired and since we have really basic cable service, we don't have access any more unless we pay. I'm all for paying per episode, but DH isn't, and he is now across the room from me investigating other tiers of service we could purchase instead. Honestly, I rarely watch TV anyway, so he's really the one who would take advantage of any higher tier. Additionally, he's the one who pays, so it's totally up to him.

We've been with Xfinity for a long time and their service has been
excellent. Their website, however, to find out what upgrades are
available and what it would cost, is probably one of the worst I've
ever dealt with. I'll need to change our service by the end of the year
for other reasons, but right now, I really don't have to, so I will
just stick with what I've got and resume "Brokenwood Mysteries"
later in the year.

I go on record here, however, stating that Xfinity's website totally SUCKS! It's almost impossible to actually find concrete information about what's included, what's not, what equipment is required, and what it will actually cost. I have a feeling the company just grabs a set of dice and tosses them to find out if you're going to open the door to a treasure or to a troll. (Shades of D&D for those of you who also used to play the RPG.)

DH and I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons since the
mid-1970's while we were in grad school. At the time we
started, we were working with mimeographed pages of
rules, long before there was an actual Players Manual
and Monster Compendium published in hard copy. We have
continued to collect the books and materials with every
new edition. In fact, it's D&D that brought us to play
"Lord of the Rings Online" since we had been "DDO"
(Dungeons & Dragons Online) players before the beta of
LOTRO was announced. We were invited to participate
in the Beta of LOTRO and have been playing it ever
since - more than 13 years, now.

Anyway, we're still fine, we're still here, we're still healthy, and we're ready to enter the weekend. As those of you celebrating one of the holidays enter or continue your celebrations, be safe, stay home, and keep Social Distancing. Happy Easter, Good Passover, and be kind to your neighbors. I'll be back tomorrow.
