Sparkles, Colors and Blech

I have to start out with sparkly things, because ... SPARKLY things. At least ONE sparkly thing. When my friend Sharon visited for the long Labor Day weekend, I mentioned that my Denver Broncos bumper sticker was looking rather faded and that I had to look for a new one. Said and done - it was out of my mind, but obviously merely moved from my mind to hers, because soon after she returned home an envelope arrived for me containing a new, larger and beautifully sparkly bumper sticker. Since I had a bit of time on Wednesday (and wanted to replace my summer floor mats with my winter ones in Minion), I worked hard at getting 90% of the old bumper sticker off and replaced it with the new, sparkle. Voila! So happy with the new look.

My new sticker looks fabulous on Minion. I'm loving
the power of the sparkle! Thanks to my BFF, Sharon, for
the perfect thank-you gift.

We're supposed to have our first frost warning in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. Ack! Time to cover up the tomatoes, although they're not bearing much ripened fruit by now in any case. Still, we'll cover the plants up and I'll try to harvest everything I can over the weekend. I have several recipes sent to me by various on-line friends and so many sound interesting. DH's experiment of buying two little, spindly, cherry tomato plants was a rousing success. I'm fairly certain it will be repeated next year, with much larger cages for the plants.

It's hard to believe that two tiny baby cherry
tomato plants like this managed to grow as
large as they did and produce the fruit that
they did. I've been delighted by my cherry
tomatoes. It's going to be hard to return to
store-bought tomatoes for my salads over
the winter.

The final weekend of Renaissance Festival is coming up starting tomorrow and concluding on Sunday. It's Oktoberfest Weekend and we do usually attend on final weekend, but we might blow it off this time. We've been there each weekend through the season and missing one wouldn't be horrible. It's going to be much cooler too. We'll check the weather carefully and figure it out at the last minute. Go or not, it's been fun.

We're not quite into our scarlet leaves stages yet, although there
is color here and there. It needs a frost to really kick into gear, and
that will happen overnight tonight. We're already had snow in
the upper part of the state, though. Winter is coming!

As I look over the landscape on my drives from the gym and then on to work, I'm noticing a lot of changing colors appearing now that we're having cooler temperatures. It's time for the trees to shed their leaves and sleep for the winter, and time for us to get things together and move the snowblower from DH's side of the garage to my side so that it will be accessible through the winter. Right now, it's rather blocked in by the new truck. Maybe we'll work on getting that resolved this weekend instead of going to Fest. At least we won't have a football game to watch - the Vikings managed to lose their Thursday night game. That's two losses in a row. Blech!!!

Of course, "Blech" isn't just an expression, it's also an anime. And it
happens to be in autumn colors. A total win/win. LOL.

On that note, I'm going to plug in pics and get going on my Friday. The pool awaits. Have an excellent Friday and I'll be back tomorrow, shivering in the first frosty dip of temperature, I'm sure. Enjoy your day!
