Watch Golf? Well, Yes. It's the Ryder Cup in Scotland

So it's Saturday and I got caught up in Emails and a bit of work (yes, at 4:00 am I was doing some work - *sigh*). I'm running SUPER LATE in getting my blog post up. I already did a photo blog yesterday and my DH is enchanted by watching the Ryder Cup on TV, so maybe a bit of sports for the post today. At the very least, I might have a chance to share some lovely, toned bodies with all of you.

It's always nice to see golf return to the country where it was born. I love
seeing the Scottish countryside and the beautiful course where they are playing
the game this year. Next year will be in American, and in 2016 they'll be outside Paris.

The Ryder Cup is a team golf challenge between the US and a team of European golfers. It alternates golf courses from Europe to the US and back. This year it's in Scotland and during yesterday's play the wind was picking up and blowing hard, affecting each shot. I know that to many people watching golf has the excitement of watching paint dry, but I find it interesting and rather fun, especially when the weather comes to play.

The Gleneagles golf course in Scotland is stunningly beautiful.

The Ryder Cup is structured quite differently than a standard gold tournament too. Instead of teams of two going through an 18-hole course for four days with the lowest score winning at the end of the last day, it is team play set up in several different configurations, and it is the team that wins. Team play is always interesting and different than individual play. When one person has a terrible shot, the other people on the team may be able to do well enough to make up the shortfall.

There's a wonderful education page for the Ryder Cup. Just
follow my link.
At this page you can click on the flags in the map with each
one explaining a different aspect of the competition.

DH is addicted to watching the play and I have no problem with it, but I'd rather watch football. The guys playing golf are fun to watch, but it just doesn't have the intensity that a good football game has. Still, the Denver Broncos have a bye week this week, so I can ignore football until next week anyway. Onward to the tee - golf rules (at least for the weekend).

Such a beautiful golf course. I watch golf to see the surroundings in
which they are playing. I'm enjoying this little look at Scotland.

Have a wonderful weekend.
