Sometimes Things Just Work Out

Sunday was a perfect day. The weather people all promised it would be a "Top Ten Day" and it was. It was a bit chilly in the early morning as we arrived at the Festival Grounds for Renaissance Festival, Week 4, but it quickly warmed to a comfortable temp, even in those areas which are usually hot with blazing sun.

One of the attractions at Ren Fest is the Wizard's Riddle Booth. Since
I'm terrible at riddles (no hobbit in my ancestry, I guess), I usually
skip dropping by, but I do run into the wizard every now and
again as we walk the grounds.

It was the first week of football - opening day so to speak - and DH was not happy about missing the first game of the season for his Minnesota Vikings team. We decided to watch the game, or at least the start of it, in the one Renaissance Festival pub with a television (there specifically for Vikings football games). The stools to sit on were uncomfortable, the tables were small, they only had beer and wine, no cider, and it seemed a silly thing to be indoors on a fine day even though indoors was open walls and ivy-clad shade. But, the game was actually quite good, we had Guinness and Harp instead of cider, and the team won. So all was good.

It was a perfect day for colorful parasols. The sun was shining from
a cloudless sky, but there was just a soft breeze and it was just
hot enough to want protection from its rays. Here, some of the ladies of
the court show off in style.

Before and after the game we wandered the grounds as is our habit. Several food places were closed and we were unsure if that was because they were sold out of product or if the operators were sick with the 'creeping crud' that seems to have been making its way through the state lately. Whatever the cause, however, I wasn't able to get the garlic noodles I had been looking forward to. Although DH offered some alternatives, I decided I really didn't need anything to eat and waiting until late that night at home where I microwaved some frozen ravioli. I was in a pasta mood.

This isn't inaccurate. Just as the rest of the world
loves their soccer, we love American Football in
this country. This is the game, played out in stadiums
throughout the nation, that routinely pulls 50,000+ people
to attend each one and millions more to watch on TV.

Topping off the day was the Denver Broncos game which was the evening football game. I was exhausted, so trusted in Peyton Manning to not let me down and to win this opener over the Indianapolis Colts. Waking up this morning and checking the scores first thing, he didn't let me down. Denver Rocks!!!!

Of course it was a disappointment to lose the Super Bowl in
such a spectacular fashion earlier this year, but it's another
season and as a life-long Broncos fan, I'm used to disappointment.
I still love my Broncos, though.

Today starts with a trip to my Chiropractor, then a nice breakfast at Perkins Restaurant and then on to work. I'm finding that I can do a lot with my phone, and I've been trying to catch up a bit on Live Journal using the phone instead of my laptop. The phone is a lot easier to carry. We'll see. I know I can't count on the phone for everything, but it's sure nice to have options again.

We tried to watch the game via our NFL Mobile app on our phones. Although
we did get the feed once, and it was pretty fun to see it, it took
numerous tries to finally succeed, and when we tried again, neither of
us were able to connect. *sigh* a disappointment.

Short and sweet today. Perfect for a Monday. Have a fabulous day and I'll be back tomorrow.
