Fun, Floods and Phone - I'm Back...

Not much time today, I'm still trying to catch up with the past week's worth of posts from all of my friends and comrades in the pen and paper. But I'm back. Sharon came, we walked, and we conquered. My shoes had a beating, and my phone... well here's the sad tale.

Rain and the State Fair don't mix well, especially when
it's a lot of rain.

Friday was our first day at the Fair. We walked, we ate breakfast and lunch, and we kept dodging small rains, until the mid-afternoon. Then the clouds decided to open with a vengeance and we were right in the way, of course. We could have stayed in a building, but the rain wasn't going anywhere, the thunder was sounding louder and more threatening, and the buildings close at 9:00 pm, so shelter would be unavailable after that time. We decided to get the last things we needed and head back to the transit station to catch our bus home.

One of the activities we each did was to paint our own silk scarf. It was
similar to this, with water dyes floating on a water and starch surface. When
the scarf is placed on top of the paints, they bond with the silk and leave the
water behind. Very kewl, very individual, and we all loved what we made.
We'll do this one again, even though it was $30 for each of us to play.

By the time we got to the bus, my shoes had been completely flooded over by rivers of water, my jacket was wet (and it's water resistant) and my purse was quite damp, moist, maybe even a dripping or two. In other words, it was wet and whatever was in it was damp/wet. That included my phone which seemed quite angry about the moisture since it started acting up immediately.

I love my Motorola Razr Droid, but apparently it's not
really fond of moisture. *sigh*

Now it freezes when I try to text sometimes, or sometimes just freezes in a screen. I can't read for more than a page or two, I can't text for long, I can't talk without it dropping the call. I'm not very happy. My contract for this phone expires on the 14th, but I'd rather not have to wait that long for something functional, so I'll be going to the Verizon store today and hoping that they can be kind and cut me a bit of slack, letting me get a new phone now instead of waiting another 1-1/2 weeks. But if I can't get a new phone without cancellations penalties, I'll be without a phone for a bit.

Guilty as charged. I never thought I'd become so
attached to my smartphone, but I am. ARGH!!!!

This will, of course, mess things up completely. No phone call with Aearwen, no call to a passing acquaintance who has offered to discuss her own brain injury history with me in hopes that it will help my research, and no reading on my phone, just on my Nook. So, please cross your fingers for me to day and hope that I can get a new replacement phone earlier than the 14th. Have a great Wednesday - update tomorrow....
