Counting Down... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... EEEEEEK!

So, my friend Sharon arrives TOMORROW and I'm not ready. But, I'm almost there. I'll have to work really hard today to wrap things up and even though I know she doesn't pay a lot of attention to her surroundings, I still like to have things as nice as possible for her visit. She'll be here for four days of exhaustion, walking, great food (and some greasy), and noise. It can't get much better - LOL.

Although Sharon will be arriving by airplane, this choppered-out Harry
Potter-style broom could be a great alternative method of transport.

Sharon and I met in high school, back in the old days when lessons were still transmitted via log drum and we wore animal skins and hunted the Woolly Mammoth.  In other words - we've been friends for a very long time. With the exception of the year her mother died, Sharon has come up to share time with us and go to the State Fair for more than 25 years now. It's an impressive record.

I love to push and show Sharon things she hasn't seen before. I'm not
quite as adventurous now, but I still love to expand her horizons.

I consider myself the dark to her light. She's a good Catholic girl to whom I delight in showing the other side of the world. I'm the yin to her yang. I've taken her on road trips throughout the Southwestern US and she was my navigator and companion when we took two weeks to drive through England and Cornwall. She's a great travelling companion. We talk about everything and nothing, and it's all good. I know I've been featured in some of her books - yes, she's an author too. I try to turn a blind eye to those hints and apparitions ... just sayin'.

The Minnesota State Fair Gopher welcomes us to the fairgrounds
for another year of joy, food and drink. I can hardly wait!

She arrives tomorrow night and we'll be at the State Fair on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and stop by the Renaissance Festival on Monday. It's my annual end of the summer vacation time, and I promise that I won't be checking in on my computer very much at all. I won't be totally out of the loop, but I won't be reading every post either.

The food assortment at the Fair runs the gamut. I'm not really a cookie fan,
although Sweet Martha's is pretty good. I do usually indulge in
one foot-long hot dog over my three days, though.
Just too good to resist.

So tomorrow will be my last long post for a few days (although I might check in for short ones), and today will be my final housecleaning mania (along with errands that I just can't put off). This is one bit of vacation where we all return to work in early September both rejuvenated and totally exhausted. It's so much fun! So here is today's blog, and I'm already plotting out tomorrow's. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
