This long and twisting line was for people waiting
to vote in Zimbabwe. I'm always impressed by how
seriously other nations take their civic rights.
It was sleeting and cold, but we were early enough to stand in the entryway alcove, dry and 'warm' or at least warmer. By the time we were let into the building at 7:00 am the line was out of the entryway doors, down the walkway to the parking lot, then turned the corner heading towards the street, and turned one more corner to bracket the church in voters. DH and I were out of there by 7:10 am, our bright red "I Voted" stickers on our shirts. After a quick breakfast I dropped DH off at home and continued to work. I was thankful that I had gotten my 2000 words in on NaNo before I left to vote because I ended up with no time during the day to write another word.
I took a class in contract law shortly after I moved
up here, a long time ago. I always enjoyed the subject
though and I'm looking forward to reading my contract
and examining it in detail.
Tonight I got home and finally had a chance to catch up on some work. Among the things waiting for me in my in-box was my contract from Untold Press for "Dragon Seeks a Wife" along with a short email confirming that we will have at least one more joint edit between us before publication. It's a much larger and more detailed contract than I have had for nonfiction that I have published in the past, and I'm brain fuzzy today, so I'm letting it sit in front of me, unread, until after I have my 2000 words done tomorrow. Then I'll take it with me to breakfast and coffee and red-pen it. (For those of you who may not know, my short story was accepted for an anthology due for publication in 2013 in both e-format and paper. That's who the contract mentioned above is from.)
I'm very homesick when I look at this pic. This is
the entrance area to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Pretty, isn't it?
I am hip deep in my NaNo story. I love my main characters and even though I see areas that I will probably leave on the editing room floor, I love the glimpses of their lives that they are allowing me to view. My miner has finally reached the mountains and is getting ready to be introduced to the life that will be his until his death. My musician has been given her purpose and it's up to her to move with it. Now I just need some good music...
Ink Masters is a tattoo competition. I'm generally
not impressed by the contestants' tattoos, but I do
love watching the show.
I'm tired of the election so I'm watching Ink Masters which is just making me wish I had my other two tattoos already. But they are larger and my DH isn't pleased about my having them. They also won't be inexpensive and I just don't have the dinero right now. Oh well, all comes as it will... Enjoy your night and may the candidates and issues dear to your heart win.
